When Lumi woke up, she was in a chair in a dark room. She tried to stand up, but quickly realized that she couldn't. Her arms and legs were tied to the chair. She tried to use fire to get out, but it didn't work. In fact, none of her powers were working.
"Oh, you're finally awake," Asrar said, coming down stairs. "Welcome to the basement!"
"Can you explain what the hell is going on?" Lumi asked. "Because I have no clue."
"It's very simple actually," Asrar said. "Let me start from the beginning."
Asrar tied a gag around Lumi's mouth. "I don't want any of your annoying interruptions."
"I transferred to your school, because I knew the children of the ninja were there. I just didn't know that they were in the same grade as me. Our original plan was to try and spy on you for months and months, but when Morro and I saw that you sat right next to me, we knew that we could get this over faster. So, we kidnapped Ms. Johnson and I pretended to be her. In case you're wondering how, it's because I am the master of form. That's the power to transform into anyone I choose. My real father isn't Morro, I'm adopted. My mother's name is Chamille. Her power was form, and so is mine. I also pretended to be Katie, to pit your friend group against each other and it worked far better than I could've expected. I've been the cause of all of your problems recently. How does that make you feel?"
Lumi couldn't answer. Asrar sighed and took the gag out of her mouth. Instead of answering Asrar's question, she asked one of her own. "Why'd you flirt with me then? I'm assuming that wasn't part of the plan."
Asrar rolled his eyes.
Morro came down the stairs. "Have you explained everything to our prisoner?"
"Yeah," Asrar clarified.
"Wait, can I make sure I've got this straight?" Lumi asked. When Morro nodded, she spoke. "So . . . Asrar is actually the son of another elemental master, but they died, so Morro adopted him. Then Asrar transfered to my school, so you decided to try and make my friend group fall apart. You did this by pretending that Katie was helping Morro and that I was insane for thinking Ms. Johnson was insane by kidnapping her and pretending to be her. Then, when I went to the courtyard, you beat me up, but instead of letting me die, you took me to the nurse. Then you kidnapped me. Did I get that right?"
"Wait . . . What do you mean he didn't let you die?" Morro asked me. He turned towards his son and asked, "Is that true?"
Asrar looked away. "Uh . . . yeah."
"Why, son?" Morro asked. "Did you catch feelings for the green ninja?"
"No!" Asrar yelled. "Can we talk about this somewhere else?"
Morro and Asrar went up the stairs. Lumi could hear them talking, but not quite what they were saying.
Lumi sighed. Now she was stuck in this mother fuckers basement. Damn it! There has to be a way out!
Asrar smirked at Lumi as he came down the stairs. "Care to see what your dear friends are doing right now?"
Lumi nodded.
Morro came down the stairs holding a laptop. "We hacked into the cameras of the school, so you can see exactly what is happening," Morro explained to Lumi, setting the laptop right where she could see it. The screen lit up and she could see her friends standing in a circle in the courtyard.
"And then they knocked me out and when I woke up, Lumi was gone!" Blaze announced.
"At least we know who our enemies are," Lillian said. "Just have to find Morro and Asrar. Can't be that hard."
Amber shook her head. "There's no way that you can do it without Lumi. She's the team leader."
"Someone will have to take over for her while she's gone," James decided. "I'm not a natural leader, so it shouldn't be me."
Lillian shook her head. "It can't be me. I get nervous when I have to lead."
"No offense, Blaze, but you're too hot-headed to be the leader," Amber said.
"I guess Bylur could do it," Jake said. "Because me and Amber don't have powers."
"I'll try," Bylur said. "But there is no way that I will be as good as Lumi. I am too logical."
"We need someone who isn't too emotional to let their feelings get in the way, but who is emotional enough to make sure that everyone is okay. You know what I mean?" Lillian asked.
"Someone who isn't nervous," James started.
"But still cautious," Jake finished.
"Someone like Lumi," Blaze sighed.
"We don't even know where she is," Amber said sadly. She twisted her bracelet around
"We have to find her," James said. "We have to."
"We will," Jake set a hand on James' shoulder.
"We still can't trust Katie," Blaze said.
"You can," Lumi whispered to the screen, even though she knew it couldn't hear her.
Morro slammed the computer shut. "Without you, your friends are completely useless. But don't worry, soon they will get you back," Morro smirked.
And Lumi realized what was happening just before he said it.
"Asrar will be you," Morro smiled.
