Three years ago.

"Jason, are you sure you don't want me to go with you?" Veronica glanced at Jason who was laying in her bed beside her.

He looked at the ceiling as if he was regretting his decision to go back to Gotham, he wanted to stay with Veronica like this forever, laying in bed and no though about the world, just the two of them and no one to bother them. He let out a long sight and kissed her before getting up from bed. " Babe, as much as I'd like to stay here with you forever, I have to go back to Bruce." He responded as he walked over to her, before giving her a long hug.

"I know, but, I don't know, I have a bad feeling about this." Veronica responded as she hid her face in his chest, hugging him back as tightly as she could. They stayed like that for a few minutes before letting go of each other. She was scared and she didn't like being apart from him, they always went on missions together and they always had their back but this time, Bruce needed him alone and she understood that.

"I mean, it's Gotham, I get that you're worried, but I'll be fine, besides, wouldn't you have dreamed about me being in trouble?" He looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile, he was different with her, he was sweet and caring when it came to her. He could curse at other people, but when it came to her, he just couldn't.

"I guess, I'll see you in a few weeks. "She responded as she let go of his hug and leaned in for another kiss, before letting go, it was time for him to go and she didn't feel like keeping him from leaving much longer. "It's only a few weeks.." She thought to herself as she watched him walk away, putting on his leather jacket.

"Don't let any of this assholes mess with you, or I'll kick their asses." He said as he turned around and walked out of the room, disappearing from her sight.

Little did she know, that was the last time she would see him, the same night he got killed by the Joker and she was no longer herself. She was devastated, she hated herself and her powers for being useless against the person she loved.

Present time.

As Veronica laid awake in bed, she couldn't stop thinking about the dream she had the night before, the dream that she thought was going to kill her, she remembered Jason, the coldness she felt, how paralyzed it made her feel.

Knowing he was alive now, made her make sense of her dream. It was her dream, telling her that he was out there, that she needed to help him or in someway get him back, wherever he was. A part of her was also angry at him for not even giving her a clue of his revival, a part of her wanted to snap at him.

But she couldn't make sense of anything without answers first. So she let her thoughts aside and got out of her room, she passed by Gar and Rachel who were by the kitchen eating their breakfast, their eyes following her with curiosity as she walked towards Grayson's room and knocked loudly.

She called Dick's name and kept on knocking until he finally opened the door, Veronica glanced and could see that Kory was in there.

"You need to tell me everything, NOW!" Veronica demanded not giving a single fuck about her interruption. Grayson nodded and closed the door behind him, pointing her towards the living room. "Sit." He pointed towards the sofa and crossed both his arms preparing to explain. By this time Gar and Rachel were sitting beside Veronica , curious as to how Grayson will explain a secret he's been keeping for two years.

"Now talk!" Veronica spoke as she rose her brow and crossed both her arms mimicking Grayson's gesture.

"He's been alive for two years, you wanted no part with any mission in Gotham and things got out of hand.." Grayson looked at Gar and Rachel before looking back at Veronica then continued explaining. "Jason, turned out to be part of our mission, but we got into an agreeme-" Before he could continue, Veronica interrupted him. "And you didn't bother to tell me?, IT'S JASON FOR FUCKS SAKE!" She shouted while standing up from her seat, facing Grayson, who was maintaining his posture .

"He told me not to tell you, to keep it a secret, Victoria, he told me to tell you, that the Jason you knew was dead. To leave it as it was, to let you mourn and go on with your life." By this time Grayson was about to lose it, he wasn't in a good mood thanks to her timing , but he had to choose his words carefully.

"Veronica, he's Red Hood, he has killed people, he might be helping a few people now and then, but he killed one of our own." He finished, Veronica felt like in her dream, paralyzed and cold by Dick's words, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes and her body was in control once again.

She wanted to cry, not because of Jason being Red Hood, it was because she wanted to go to Gotham, see for herself that it was true, that he was indeed alive. She could let out her anger, ask for an explanation, anything would've worked for her, only to see Jason and confront him about it would bring her a little peace of mind.

"Thank you, for telling me, I think I need some fresh air." Veronica said as she cleared her throat, holding her tears back. "You're going to be okay, you got us." Rachel and Gar said as they both went and comforted her, after all, they were her best friends. Veronica let go of the hug and Grayson placed a hand on her shoulder before leaving the three of them in the living room.

"Listen, i'm gonna go for a walk, so please don't wait up for me." Veronica wiped her tears and grabbed her jacket before heading out the door. "Don't you think we should go with her?" Gar asked Rachel, confused by the sudden change of mood.

"Gar, she's an adult, she can also kick ass. She'll be fine". Rachel said as she placed her hand at the empty space in the couch beside her, signaling Gar to sit and so he did with a smile on his face not knowing their friend would not be coming back.

As the night went by, Veronica was far in her thoughts, walking down the city trying to make sense of everything Grayson said, but what she couldn't stop thinking the most was, why Jason wanted her to think he was still dead, that just didn't do it for her, it made no sense and it bothered her, it made her feel weak and she hated that feeling of weakness.

She kept on wondering, until she made her last rational decision. What she desired, was out there and she was going to look for it. "Where to miss?"

" A ticket to Gotham. " Veronica ended up at the train station, ready to face whatever was waiting for her in Gotham, she threw away her phone and everything with a tracker on it in the nearest bin, she wanted to be off the radar. She was going undercover and as much as she wanted to see Jason, she knew better than to be careful, but she also wanted to be noticed in a way.
