Chapter 12: This can't be happening

Payal and Aditya strolled around their college, payal's hands were holding tightly onto her blue bag, she felt like there was something important in there at one point… she just…couldn't remember.

"You seem to have a lot on your mind payal." Aditya said kindly, his startling  eyes gazing upon her. Payal smiled nervously, there was no one there except for them, and there was no wind, but she heard the vague sound of soft rustling leaves from the trees beside them.

"I… have a lot on my mind." Payal said softly, "I guess you can say I'm confused."

"Confused, about what?" Aditya asked kindly, Payal glanced at him, "Don't take this the wrong way Payal, I just thought that since we are friends, I thought I could help… that is saying we are friends." He said. Payal smiled

"Of course you are my friend Aditya," Payal hesitated, "I just found out something… startling about a friend of mine… actually my best friend."

"You found out something about Khushi?" Aditya asked, payal gave a startled jolt,

"How did you know it was Khushi?" Payal gasped, Aditya chuckled,

"It was a guess, you and Khushi seem very close, so I just assumed." Aditya gave an honest smile. "So, are you going to tell me, or should we sit out here all day?" Payal giggled,

"I guess… I mean she just told me something incredible, and it seems so stupid and so unreal, but at the same time, it all makes sense, and I know I should be glad she chose to tell me, but I don't know what I'm scared of most." Payal spilled out, "I'm scared-not of the secret she told me-but because I'm not as scared as I'm supposed to be. It's like… I've known this before something happened."

Aditya looked and listened to the young girl talk beside him, the wind around the two picked up, and the tress rustled violently. Payal didn't notice she was too deep in thought…

Flashback

Payal skipped up the pathway that led to the Gupta's household. Summer holiday had just come and after this year. Her hairs were pulled into a long pony tail and she held a small, purple purse. Khushi was her best friend since as long as she could remember, of course when her mother told her she could invite someone to go to Mumbai with her, Khushi was her number one choice. Reaching the door, the dark eyed beauty rang the door bell.
