Chapter 34

Hope.

We all live in hope of a certain thing that we don't own or want to achieve.

She did too. All her life.

And now, when she was leading to it, she wants to run away so badly. In fear of losing her determination that has been keeping her strong all together for a while now.

She fears, what if the world Jungkook promised her of, makes her waver on her decision and-

Jungkook : you ready?

She flinched at his sudden voice beside her in the driving seat. Jungkook didn't miss it as worry took over his features.

Jungkook : Are you alright?

Y/n : yeah....just got distracted.

She finishes before finally acknowledging their surroundings.

Y/n : where are we?

Jungkook : some place I should have bought you to way long ago.

He says while unbuckling his seatbelts. Y/n furrowed her brows but mirroring his actions when he turned to her, tenderness glistening in his eyes.

Jungkook : I promise to do things for you that you deserve, Y/n. I know that I don't deserve any happiness but...

He reached his hand out and gently caresses her cheek.

Jungkook : you do.

Jungkook bends over and affectionately pecks her upon her forehead.

'I'm so sorry for hurting you...'

He mumbles too discreetly to understand but she heard him. And easily made out the other half of his meaning that tugged on her heart almost painfully.

'I love you so damn much...you mean the world to me'

Jungkook knew he had boundaries that he couldn't risk to cross. At least not yet so he was willing and doing everything in his will power to restrain himself from saying things that could trigger her in a negative way.

Meanwhile Y/n, although knew it wouldn't be an easy path and prepared herself for the worst, was actually having difficulties to cope with her sanity.

What few seconds felt like forever, Jungkook pulled away and swallows his emotions to not let them take over him.

Jungkook : come on, you have surprises to discover. And hard work to turn them into what makes you feel like a better version for our future journey.

He expresses before getting off the car and running around towards her side to open the door for her.

After he helps her out on the vast field, he entertwined their fingers together before flashing a charming smile.

Jungkook : Let's go.

He says before heading forward with destination set in his mind.

It was simple but a very attractive house.

With few tall tree's at it's best condition and position to feel welcome for anyone who would walk ahead. A blue lake was at the backward, with open and vast field, filled with new blossoming flowers decoring the beauty of the mesmerizing house. The two story building stood tall at the center as the scenery felt too surreal.

It was just perfect. And took her breathe away as she admired the smallest details.

Bark!

Y/n jumped back instantly, taking Jungkooks arm in reflex. The gesture wasn't big but sent tingles through his body as emotions ran into his veins.

It was a dog, running through the field until reaching Jungkook and started nibbling on his shoe clad foot.

A light chuckle came out of her mouth as she shifted her gaze from the dog to Jungkook who was still frozen while staring down at her.

Seeing his surprised expression, Y/n realized their close proximity, also the fact that she had her plam clutching on his forearm for her dear life.

She slowly retreats her hand when Jungkook was snapped back and cleared his throat. He was happy, because the simple gesture meant there was indeed hope even if it took a long time.

While he would have preferred to have never let that moment end, he knew she was obviously not comfortable. So he dilebarely changed the subject as he bent down to the very obvious excited animal.

Jungkook : hey Ben! You missed me boy?

Ben barks in response and Jungkook chuckles as Y/n crouched down too matching Ben's as well.

Ben immediately shifted his attention on Y/n and she smiled softly at the innocent dog, patting his ears who wiggled in appreciation.

Y/n : there there...you're a good boy Ben..

Jungkook felt giddy as he watched his wife smiling at his pet.

Y/n : how old is he?

Y/n asked Jungkook while playing with the dog.

Jungkook : four months, gonna turn five within a week.

Y/n : he is so lovable..

Y/n admitted and Jungkook nods.

Jungkook : he is. He was a wild puppy when I bought him here but see now, he turned out to be most tamed and lovable kind.

Y/n  : he indeed did.

Jungkook : Do you like him?

Y/n hummed delightedly in reply.

Jungkook : I'm happy he made you smile like that, Y/n.

The movements of Y/ns hand on Ben paused as she realized only then and there that she has been smiling nonstop after meeting Ben.

Jungkook : I missed your smile, don't know for how long but it felt like ages went by to see you like this again. And.. I couldn't ask for any more than this side of you, Y/n.

Y/n shifts her eyes at him slowly when Jungkook bents his face in what she assumed shame and guilt.

Jungkook : I know... Things wouldn't just go back to normal all of a sudden. And no matter what I do, it cannot be undone or ever be enough but.... I want to hear it from your lips to not lose hope,

He looks up until staring deep in her eyes.

Jungkook : Will I ever be worth of our family, not just out of obligation but love too? How you own my heart today, shall I hope to have yours one day, Y/n?

Jungkook saw emotions swirling in her eyes. But what laid raw in them was fear, and it tore his heart in shreds to imagine himself being the cause of it.

Little did he knew, it wasn't him she feared now but herself. Of the never ending pain she was gonna inflict on him to suffer for the rest of his life. Which made her question, would it be worth for everything she received? Wouldn't the heartbreak be too severe, too intense and agonizing for someone who was already living in so much guilt, self-doubt and distress.....

Then, like a re-play, her entire life flashed before her eyes coating her resolve with reasons she almost looked past and clearing her vision which got blurred in immense love for the man she once so dearly craved.

With eyes as soft as one could ever doubt to be deceiving, smile as genuine as one could ever claim to be pretentious, Y/n replies him.

Y/n : My heart always belonged and desired you Jungkook. Could it ever beat without you if not out of love?
