Jessica?:
Honestly, this city was far too small and narrow for me to run in properly. I kept snaking around all of the little side streets and arcades, past the Roman Bath's and the random market, and I couldn't get up enough of a run to sprint. My entire body ached to just run and run, but was constantly stopping as people just walked directly in front of me for no reason, and the amount of roads I had to cross.
It sucked because I was desperately trying to wear myself out. Since coming close to suffocating, my nightmares were worse than ever and my body felt in a constant state of fight or flight. Jolts of adrenaline snapped me out of my sleep every time I tried, and I was exhausted. Wanting to run and fight things when you wanted to sleep wasn't exactly needed.
I'd just reached the bottom of the markets near the stations again when my music stopped and the annoying ringtone I hadn't worked out how to change started. I preferred my comms computer, but it was bulky to run with, the phone at least had that upside. "I still have an hour to curfew." I told him, my hearts only slightly faster than normal and I wasn't short of breath. "Besides, this city is boring and nothing ever happens here."
"Tiny, we just needed to know where you are so the Catholic's could pick you up and bring you back home. You probably should get a say in this." Dad told me as I now heard a car pulling up behind me, making me pause in the light jogged I'd slowed to while on the phone. "Don't bolt, it's fine. They're friends of mine."
I turned to face the men in robes coming over, hesitating over how I was in a sports bra and high waisted leggings. "You're not friends with Catholic's, Dad. I'm certainly not, I don't subscribe to religions that force themselves down your throat like most sects of Christianity. Can I race them back to campus? I bet I could easily beat them even if they drive."
With a smile, I let them keep coming over, muttering in Italian to each other. "Jessica... Don't even think about it, Zephyr. You're supposed to just accept the lift and get home quickly."
Oh, I could get home quickly. "I don't accept lifts from strangers. See you in ten."
Before hanging up, saluting the people about to speak to me, and sprinted off at top speed, leaping the chain divider to cross the road the road and started back up the hill. I heard them cry out in alarm, getting back in their car and giving chase but I ducked through a side street and cut off across a narrow road the car couldn't get in. They managed to catch up the main road to the uni, but they had to get out to open the gates at the entrance, and chat to the guard.
Joys of already bring known to everyone here, I just ran and scaled the wall, jumping across to the next tree and jumping down onto the green to then run into the building. Getting into the office a good five minutes before the out of breath Catholics arrived and I was still laughing. "Oh, that was too easy. Far too easy, that was great! Dad, you can't disapprove, there is no way you aren't proud of that!"
Dad was still just sat at his desk with the sunglasses on, weird as it was night, but Nardole had enjoyed me running faster than the Church. "Yes, yes, very good. You out ran a bunch of old white men in dresses, Zephyr." I mean, they also had a car, but thanks for paying me barely any attention. "So, Jessica Brooke, Father Angelo and the Pope. Angelo, Pope, my daughter Zephyr, Jessica Song on Earth. Where I go, she goes."
I waved, lounging in the armchair I claimed. "Ciao, ragazzi. Grazie per la competizione, mi piace correre. Tendo a bruciare su un terreno consacrato, però, quindi non voglio unirmi al tuo culto, grazie."
