— OoOoO — O — OoOoO —

It was All Hallows Eve ... Hallowe'en ... and Star was beyond giddy, trembling in anticipation. She and Marco had volunteered to take Mariposa out trick-or-treating and chaperone the neighbor children, but it was a deceit. The two were actually looking forward to playing dress-up, and Star was practically drooling at the thought of the candy. Oh! All that candy! Not to mention they wanted to escape what would almost certainly be another embarrassing failure by Rafael to make a scary haunted house.

Marco joined Star in Rafael's workshop. "Sorry I'm late," he began, "but mom was telling me that all the cats in the neighborhood are missing." He cocked his head, squinting his eyes as he looked at Star. "They started disappearing two months ago ... you wouldn't know anything about that, would you?"

Star smiled innocently and batted her eyes at Marco, but the small drop of drool that appeared at the corner of her mouth suggested she knew more than she let on.

The two stood looking at each other for several more seconds before Star said, "Well, as interesting a topic as that may be, we have stuff to do. You go first; show me what you came up with."

Marco smirked, then cast, "Radiant Shadow Transform." Star looked him up and down. He was now covered head to foot in dark-red, almost black, leather with light Kevlar-like armor pieces. He wore a matching hooded cape, the hood coming to a point that hung over his forehead. Like the rest of his body his face was covered, and over his cheeks were two, red, crescent moons. On his chest was a large crescent-moon-shaped symbol, made of a dark-red metal. His heavy leather boots were dark-red with thick soles.

"Who are you supposed to be?" Star asked.

Marco struck a Marvel superhero pose, answering, "I'm Marco Spector: Blood Moon Knight." ⭐

Star chuckled, but then responded, "So good; I appreciate the humor in amalgamating our history with the character."

"Thanks," Marco replied, inwardly proud of Star's improving vocabulistics.

"My turn," Star said, twirling, an orange cloud of magic enveloping her. When the cloud dissipated, she was dressed like Starfire of the Teen Titans, complete with orange skin, reddish calf-length hair, and glowing green eyes. She even reproduced Starfire's original Tamaranean uniform, consisting of Kevlar-like armor minimally covering her lady parts and nothing else.

"Star, do you realize that costume stereotypes women as sex objects?"

"Yes."

The pair stared at each other for several very long moments. Finally, Star raised her eyebrows, slightly shaking her head and spreading her hands in a questioning gesture.

"Never mind," Marco muttered.

The pair stepped outside into a clear, slightly breezy, night. Even though it was a nice sixty-five degrees, it was still not warm enough to be out and about practically naked. "Okay," Star said, "bad idea." She paused for a few moments, then said, "I know." She pulled out Marco's dimensional scissors ... he was afraid to ask exactly where she had been keeping them ... and opened a dimensional portal.

When Star returned several minutes later, she was dressed as Stargirl. She had chosen a variation of the character's costume that covered her entire body, except for a couple inches of midriff, made of dark-blue, almost black, leather and light Kevlar-like armor pieces. Her uncovered hair was colored a similar dark-blue, and in the middle of the brow-piece of her face armor, and scattered randomly throughout the rest of the costume, were stars of a slightly lighter shade of blue. She carried the Butterfly wond, borrowed from Eclipsa, transformed into a copy of Stargirl's Cosmic Staff. 🌟
