I was listening to music on my phone when a notification came in.

Congratulations mheerat Ibrahim. You have been offered the position as a personal assistant at THE WORLD OF FASHION. You are to come in for an interview on Monday by 9:00am. We hope to see you soon.

I couldn't believe what I was reading. I had to read it twice to be sure of what the content of the message meant. When I was sure I could read well, I screamed at the top of my voice dancing around my room. Rihannat came in with worry written all over her face sister are you ok? I heard you screaming. I thought something bad happened to you? I couldn't even give her an answer. I showed her the email on my phone. She joined me in my celebration. Am so happy for you sister. Congratulations. Ateeq came into the room seeing both of his sisters dancing and laughing what are these two on about" Ateeq look I showed him the email. Your big sis has been offered to work in her dream company. He couldn't contain his joy and joined us in our mini celebration. Congratulations sister. Am so happy for you.

When my parents came back home from work, I shared the amazing news with them. They were so happy for me to finally get what I wanted. But they were also worried because where I got accepted into is not in Kaduna where I live but in the city of Lagos. I haven't been to Lagos before neither do I have any family or friends around there. Mum, dad don't worry about that I said to them. This is a new start for me. I know moving to a new city all by myself gets you worried but it'll also be good for me. Moving into this city will teach me how to take responsibilities for my own action and try to get things done myself. I don't mind not having anyone there. Am going there to chase my dreams and that should be my priority.

They agreed to it and I couldn't be more excited. This is it. One small step for a home girl like me and a giant leap towards my dreams. That night my dad called in a friend of his in Lagos informing him about my relocation to lagos and how I needed an apartment. Thanks so much mum and dad.

That night I couldn't sleep. I kept on thinking about how my life wold be in a new city and working in one of the biggest fashion industry in Nigeria. Am super excited for this journey, I can't wait to see what it brings to the table. I couldn't sleep because Monday was still a week ahead. It seems so far.

This Morning I woke up feeling extremely excited. Today is the day I finally leave for Lagos. I woke up, said my prayers, brushed my teeth, took my bath and got dressed in a pair of Mama's jean, a white tee and a denim jacket. I tied my hair with a white veil and wore a pair of white Nike kicks. My accomodation was already sorted out by my dad's friend. He got me a self contain apartment not to far from where I'll be working. I ate my breakfast and did my final chores before leaving to the park.

The ride to to Lagos is a long one but i got prepared for it. I borded the bus going to lagos. I said my final goodbyes to my family promising them I'd always call to hear from them. They promised to come visit me once I was settled down in Lagos. I silently prayed for journey mercies before the bus took off. The ride to Lagos is a long one but I have my music to keep me busy. I took my phone out plugging my earbuds in. I tapped into audio mack selecting a track. I went for my favorite artist juice wrld. I started the track with lucid dreams

I still see your shadows in my room, can't take back the love that I gave you.

Something about juice wrld lyrics always has me thinking. I can't get enough of his words. Sometimes I can relate to what he says in his lyrics.

Who knew evil girls had the prettiest face, you gave me a heart that was full of much space, I gave you my heart and you made my heart break.

Hours later I arrived in Lagos. Mr Ahmed, my dad's friend who got the apartment for me came to pick me up at the park. He came together with his daughter who's about the same age as me. He drove me to my new apartment. On our way, his daughter and I got to know each other. I found out her name is zulaykha. She works in Lagos also in a tech company named TECHCOM. She volunteered to show me around Lagos whenever I had the chance. I thanked her and her dad when they dropped me off at my apartment. Before they left I made sure I collected zulaykha's number so we could chat more on Whatsapp.

Am so glad I got to know zulaykha
