Chapter 3

*Walking into a new life

I got to the front of my new apartment, taking out the keys from my bag and unlocking the doors. It's not a very big house but it's more than enough for me. The living room was painted in my favorite colours ash and black. Black chairs and curtains. The center rug, a shimmery ash colour. I still need some decorations to make this home perfect for me. So I made a mental note to go shopping later in the evening. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances I'd need ranging from fridge, microwave, a gas stove, and blender. I went into the bedroom. Immediately I sighted the bed, I flopped on to it sighing from exhaustion. I fell asleep soon after and woke up 2hours later.

It was afternoon already. I went into the bathroom, took a shower and said my prayers. Thank God I bought food on my way here if not I'd have to go out under this scorching sun to get what to eat. On my way home, I bought jollof rice, salad and chicken. I couldn't have enjoyed the meal more if not for my favorite drink pepsi. I called my family informing them that I got here safely. I miss them already. Rihannat and ateeq kept on whining about how they miss me and can't wait to visit me. I can't wait to visit them either.

I chatted zulaykha up on Whatsapp and she told me she'll be coming over tomorrow to show me around. I can't wait until she gets here. It was evening already, I got dressed in some comfy clothes wearing a pair of sweat pants and tees. I found my way to the mall through the help of GPS. If not I would have missed my way. I went cloth shopping picking out more of corporate outfits since I'll be working in an office. Then I bought a few picture paintings, vase, pillows, a foot mat that had a cute welcome sign written on it and some groceries. I made sure I bought alot of snacks. Those will definitely keep me busy at night. I was done shopping and headed back home.

On my way, someone bumped into me so hard making all my stuff scatter all over the floor. I got so upset just by the sight of it. I bent down to pack them. Then a voice said to me am sorry for bumping into you. Are you ok? Of course am not ok. Am I so small that you weren't able to notice me I said angrily. While I was putting my things back in the bag, a hand reached out to my groceries placing them back in the bag. I looked up to see who the idiot was that caused all this. Am sorry once again. I wasn't looking at where I was going because I was in a rush. Huh sorry for yourself. Next time you better pay attention to the road. I said to him packing the rest of my things before leaving. I don't know what's wrong with some people. Am I too small for him to notice. What a jerk.

I got back home and made the final arrangements to my interior. Perfect. Just the way I like it. I silently tapped my shoulder at a job well done. I have a good feeling I'll love my stay here. I arranged my groceries into the fridge and pantry. It's dinner time already. I opted for someone light to eat. So I made noodles and fired egg. I decided to watch a movie. So I went with a horror movie. You can say horror movies are my favorite kind of movies. The creeps makes me feel better. I laid on my bed thinking of what this new life has for me. I hope it's for the best.

The next day, zulaykha came over. We chatted for a while before heading out to explore. She showed me a bunch of cool places and I can't believe how much I've learned about Lagos in just a day. We decided to have a sleep over and have a full movie marathon. Mheerat let's watch comedy series. Sure no problem. We got on Netflix and picked out the whole series of I Carly. What can I say, am loving my stay here. We got our popcorn and soda's ready....
