Chris's POV
~ ♢This is extremely boring.
I bet. But just think, you could be waiting tables at Waffle House.
Mmm. Waffles.
I'm gonna make you waffles next time you visit.
Sounds fantastic. How's your aunt doing?
...Horrible.
I'm sorry, love.
It's fine I guess. I know what's gonna happen.
Try to think positive, okay?
They gave her a time limit. She's been trying her best to get everything set up. She even had me plan a funeral.
I'm so sorry. I swear if she passes, I'll be back in a heartbeat, okay?
She wants me to have custody of Tyler...
Are you gonna keep him?
Of course I am. He needs family. I'm his family.
Alright. I need to go back inside. I'll call you later.
Alright. I'll be here. I get off work in an hour.
I'll call then.
I shut my phone off sns sighed before walking back into the building. My mom was standing, waiting, with her arms crossed.
" Chris, we need to talk when this is all over." She stated.
"Alright. Sorry about the phone call the other day, by the way... I was just stressed and upset." I told her. She nodded.
After the funeral, I walked with my mom to her car and we drove to her house. Once inside, she began making coffee and I lit a cigarette.
"That smoking will kill you, Christofer." She scolded.
"Not if you get to me first." I joked and smiled.
"With that attitude, I completely agree." She stated.
"Ahh, but then again, you love me." I hugged her. She smiled at me. "So, what did you need to talk about?"
" Who was the girl you were visiting?" She asked. I blushed slightly and chuckled.
" What about her?" I asked.
"Tell me about her." She said.
"Well, she's pretty grand. Sweet, funny, adorable. She's kinds short, but has an attitude. Has a pet tiger. She's amazing, Mom. Really." I told her.
"So, you're in a relationship with her?" She asked.
"...I have no clue." I sighed.
"Why's that?" She kept asking. I looked at the cigarette in my hand and took a long drag.
"Well... she lives there, I live here. She's going through so much, and I don't know how to help her... I feel terrible. I can't help her." I leaned against the wall before reaching into my pocket and turning on my phone.
"Ask her how you can help. Even of its just your support. Help her through it. Then, of you still want to be with her, tey long distance. Eventually, either you can move there, or she can move here." She told me before my phone rang in my hand. I looked and saw Frankie's name.
"She's calling." I told her and answered. "Hey, there."
"Chris..." her voice was quiet and cracking.
"What happened? What's wrong?" I gave my mom an apologetic look and walked outside.
"She died... last night. They didn't tell me. They didn't fucking tell me." She raised her voice before she began sobbing loudly.
"Fuck..." I dropped the cigarette. "Um... give me an hour and I'll be on my way, okay?"
"Okay..." she took a few deep breaths before hanging up. I walked inside and looked at my mom.
"You're not gonna like this, mom. But... I have to go. Back to Tennessee. I'll call you as soon as I get there." I told her. She gave me an understanding nod.
"Alright. Be safe, okay?" She asked. I nodded and hugged her.
"Love you, mom." I said and walked back to the door. I walked to my house, down the street, and started packing more clothes. After, walked to my car and text Frankie, telling her I was on my way.
