I can fairly make out the words spoken by a couple of humans who gathered around me. They are talking to one another as if they're planning on what to do with the thing in front of them.

Which is me.

Strange. I seem to be feeling the sand and the wind differently. My eyes are still closed, but I'm certain that my body has undergone a completely outrageous transformation.

I couldn't feel my scales, my wings, my tail. But instead, I have shrunk in size and my body parts seem to be nearer to each other unlike before.

"She's awake."

I forced myself to wake up before I get sucked by this malicious dream.

But no. This isn't an ordinary dream.

My eyesight is still perfect. I can still feel my power within. Nothing but the physical appearance has changed.

But why a human form?

That Celestial...

"I have come to give you my blessing."

What blessing is it talking about? This is definitely a curse!

How dare another being curse a powerful deity like me? I couldn't believe it. Why would it choose me? I'm the Water God, I should be taking care of my homeland.

"It's all right."

I looked over to my side where I heard a human talk. This person sits with its legs folded under and it stares at me intently.

"You are saved now. So don't cry."

I raised my hand to touch a droplet of tear on my cheek. Tears are supposedly invisible for sea creatures. We cannot afford these things and can only rely on silent grief.

I have really turned... into a human.

What part of this is being saved?

The little human stayed there for a few minutes before deciding to leave my area. I lay there looking straight towards the large hole where I can see the trees outside.

The trees. They're so tall.

Back then, everywhere I look seem to be so small because of my enormous size. Humans and animals are smaller.

That spirit must have a good reason why it did this to me. An important deity like me turning into a human is a grave insult to the place I called home and the colonies I've supported.

What is the real purpose of me being in the middle of the Earth?

I sighed. I guess it can't be helped. I will try to find that spirit again and have a good talk with it.

The first step is to learn how humans live. I can't move on like this and protect myself in a different environment when I'm ineffective. I must adapt quickly.

I pushed my upper body up and moved my legs so I can sit properly. Shall I try talking with my mouth now? That seems exciting. And that's what these people are doing every time.

I slowly opened my mouth and gave a simple syllable. One after another, I felt that I haven't been so tired like this before. But I want to do at least this much.

Thankfully, I seem to understand the human language quite well. After all, they're so talkative.

After quite some time, the humans entered and took a seat surrounding me.

"One of our people found you unconscious at the beach so some of us carried you here." This person talking seems to carry an intimidating atmosphere. Is it the leader of this community? "May I ask, what is your name?"

I got used to my own subordinates calling me 'Your Majesty' because of my position. But that was just created on a whim when they all decided I'm the largest species ever known underwater. They never called me by any other name.

Just when I was about to think of a temporary one, I noticed a large scroll on one side of the room. Some image is embedded in it. A creature has been drawn using a spiral pattern, like the waves.

The leader of the people followed where I was looking. "That is one of the gods we believe to have descended from the heavens to protect us. It can control the sea and its denizens. A powerful being in the form of a leviathan. It is called the Water God."

I see. These creatures believe in gods and spirits too. I looked at the other scrolls and found a few portraits like mine. They're all in monstrous form but they're actually gods?

And I look like that?

If I took on a human form, these people wouldn't believe that I'm a god too. If they don't believe what I say for the first time, they might get more suspicious of me and will not tell me anything I need to know. And I don't want to go anywhere else but to this island.

When I said nothing, some of the people returned outside to continue their work. The little human who talked to me earlier stayed behind again.

It is staring at me but not in a negative way. It seems to be curious about my physical appearance. When I touched myself earlier, I was wondering what I looked like too.

I have a small head, a small body, long hands and legs, and aquamarine hair that extends to my knees.

I'm also wondering why I'm wearing a piece of woven fiber made of grass. These people are also wearing them over their bodies. Since the first time I saw humans, I always think about their appearances.

What does their naked body look like?

"What are you doing?" The little human crawled toward me and stopped me from lifting the garment. Its warm hand circled my arm. "Don't you have any decency? You're in front of a man! I'm sure the place where you came from has some attires as well."

"Hu-man?" Great. My first word slipped up because of this child.

"You're ...not human?"

These creatures are truly both troublesome and impressive inhabitants of Earth. What more should I expect from now on?
