Three

I ran away.

As I thought, being in a completely different place is bothersome. I've never been able to walk on land before but when I feel nervous, my willpower takes over.

What do I do now? Those people won't try to hunt down a stranger, right? They seem to be just curious about finding a naked and mute human by the beach.

Now that I think about it, my hair color is different from black ones. And I seem to be shorter than the adults back there. The child was just a little taller than me when I stood and ran to the nearest large hole in the room.

Eh? Does that mean...?

I once again looked down at my body.

I'm a human child?!

No. No. No. This can't be. I've lived for so long underwater that I lost count of the days and years and decades that seem to have happened in a blink of an eye. Surely, when I take a human form, I would be much older-looking?

I fell to my knees. I'm done for. When I visit other kingdoms below, I would notice the discrimination that's happening between normal and weird appearances. Surely if that community where all of them look somehow the same met a strange one like me near their homes... That intimidating leader would really get suspicious and hunt me down!

Grr. That Celestial! What is its purpose for dragging me into the human world if I look so vulnerable and strange like this?

I sighed. Based on that spirit's appearance, it seemed to be floating freely, without a solid form whatsoever. So I guess it can be all over the place or nowhere at all.

Is it really a god or just a little ghost?

Turning me into a human will require a large amount of power. There are supreme beings here on Earth just like me but they usually dwell in the place they protect and never leave. If it's not a ghost, why does it look like it will fade away at any moment?

My feet led me to a wide, open space by the beach. A few fresh footprints were made near the shore. Maybe this is where I was found unconscious.

I looked over to the little blue waves crashing with the rocks not far from here. The smell and sound of the sea still reach me. But I cannot go back to it. This body is too frail to go underwater.

A small sparkle half-buried in the sand caught my attention. When I crouched to reach and pull it out, I felt my heart skip a beat in shock.

This is ...a piece of my scale.

When I was about to faint, I could hear my body writhing in pain. As if my mind is telling me that I was being torn into shreds.

I enclosed my scale into my fist. No average being could've mustered the courage to belittle a god. If it's really a spirit, it must know that I'm the protector of the sea. And the moment I set foot on the land, it dared to curse me to look like a different species and being forced to stay here.

If that's what really happened in order to make me a human, then it means Celestial is doing this for a reason. It might be best to mingle with the same creatures for now until I see that spirit again.

But ...where should I start?

"Hey, you!"

I followed the voice from between the trees where I ran from and the intimidating leader emerged. It stood in front of me with a different expression aside from its relaxed face back in the room.

Then a child peeped from its back and looked wary at me.

The intimidating leader brushed the back of its head. "I was wondering why this kid is crying his eyes out when all he does is play around the village. To think that you scared him and ran away on your own at this time of night? Just what kind of people let their child go and swim whenever they want?"

I'm not a child though.

I kept my eyes on the kid and noticed that he was letting out tears I haven't seen. Those are the tears that any human can use to express their emotions.

"I ...am sorry," I told them as I willed my body to stand. Their eyes widened and I saw a different expression on their faces again.

How can I do that too?

"N-No, it's fine." The kid's voice is calmer than the intimidating leader's. "I was just surprised that you didn't deny what I said."

The leader clicked his tongue and carried the little human to his chest. "What did you say to this child anyway, Yohan?"

"I was asking her if she's not human because she doesn't seem to know anything."

"Now, now. We must not force her to talk or even scare her. This child just woke up in a different place other than her home so she might be unable to trust us yet." That's ... quite true.

"But, chief, she was crying when she saw herself. She even looked weirdly at her own tears."

"You really say everything in your mind, huh? This brat."

I sighed. Lying about what I am will not work on humans. They get suspicious easily and are very perceptive. If I tell them that I am one of the gods they believe in, what would be their say on this?

"I... I am the Water God."

The kid's eyes are even wider just like its mouth. The intimidating leader, however, has the edge of its lips curved.

For a moment, I got lost in that expression.

"We know."

What?

"My people revered the gods as beings that guide and protect humans as they live in this world. And there are humans who can hear the voice of the gods. Like me."

Next, next part should be in Tagalog. HAHAHA! 😂 Medyo nanginginig na yung ilong ko eh. Lalabasan na yata ng dugo. Char.

And try to read also The Dragon's Cry! Kinda the opposite of this one. Heavy Tagalog naman iyon.
