Dear Shadows,
I was ripped from my memory by the harsh cry of the door as it swung open, the white coats had returned. Once again they handed me the worn book and pen filled with a dark black ink and resumed their position against the wall. I stared at the pen wondering if I could use it to escape, to stab the white coats, to run, to be free... No. This was just a dream, there was no point in trying to run, I reminded myself twirling the pen between my fingers. I stop and shift my gaze to the white coats, there was a new one. I had never seen her before, dark hair fell in curls around her complimenting her caramel skin. She was the only one who wasn't writing, instead she her chocolate eyes darted around the room nervously. I smirked and pointed the pen in her direction, her eyes widened and she cowered beneath my gaze, they were so easy to play with; the new white coats. Like a small helpless lamb to a lion they were nothing but toys to pass the time. An older white coat stepped in front of her pushing his glasses up. His thin white hair was combed back neatly, eyes a dusty grey stared at me and an impossible amount of wrinkles increased as he frowned. I scowled and opened to the first blank page in my heart, carving in the letters that float around in my mind. After writing I slam the book shut earning a collective jolt from the white coats, I slide both the pen and my diary across the floor until it comes to a sudden end at the feet of the elder lab coat. He reaches down picking it up, flicking through the pages whispering to his colleagues. They all turn towards the door and shuffle out one by one as I turn away from them whispering to myself; "What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again, I'm laughing at clouds so dark up above.." I trail off as I close my eyes pulled from this world into reality.
Love, Madelynn
