I was avoiding Max.

He tried to talk to me the day after Halloween, but I hid in the bathroom until the bell rang.

By the end of the week, I finally talked to Josh again and explained to him what went down. He felt bad about what happened but even worse at how he reacted.

"Tori, you gotta get over it and talk to him, he's driving us nuts!" Tony slammed his tray on the table, waking Allison up.

I was entering week two of not talking to Max.

"No! I can't be friends with someone who does horrible things like that to people." Joey snickered and used a slice of bread to rub off the pudding on Allison's face and took a bite, making all of us groan.

Ruby grabbed a napkin and handed it to Allison.

I didn't say anything else during lunch and went to throw my trash away.

I had some time to kill before my next class, so I decided to grab some of my stuff from my locker to do some homework.

I didn't even get to my locker when someone grabbed my wrist, turned me around, and pressed me against the lockers.

Max.

"I'm not doing this anymore. Please talk to me." I tried to escape. He had a tight grip on my wrist and his other hand was on the locker right above my head.

Not gonna lie, it was pretty hot.

"Umm, please let me go." I stuttered out. He shook his head and leaned closer. "Not until you talk to me about this situation."

I let out a sigh and closed my eyes. "Fine." He let go of my wrist, but still was leaning over me so I couldn't run off.

"Look, I'm sorry about what happened." I frowned at his apology. "I can't believe you'd actually let your friends do that to me. How do I know you didn't set it up?"

He took his hands away and rubbed his face.

"Because I don't do that shit to my friends, and I'm not friends with David anymore." He stood up straight and stuck his hands into his pockets.

"Then why was he at your party? And why was Lily there?" I stopped asking questions as a teacher walked by and asked if there was an issue.

Max got her to leave and turned back to me, "I invited David back when we were friends. Right after that, I found out that he and Lily started dating. We got into an argument and we stopped being friends. I was surprised he showed up and even more surprised he brought Lily."

I nodded and wrapped my arms around myself. "I promise I would never EVER do that to you. I care about you too much." Max put his hands on my arms and we locked eyes.

His eyes were a deep green and sparkled when the light hit them.

We were so close to each other and I couldn't help but look at his lips. He noticed and leaned in. My heart was racing.

That is until the bell rang and interrupted us.

We separated and I smiled awkwardly as I went to my locker to grab my stuff.
