I reached for the doorknob but Ryan stopped me, holding the door so I couldn't pull it open. I looked at him with my eyebrow raised. He took this as a sign to explain himself."I figured while we're in here, we may as well ensure that we don't have to come back for awhile."
I continued to stare at him, not understanding. "What?"
He sighed. "Do I have to spell it out for you?" He paused. "I guess I do. Do you have to go to the bathroom?"
I shifted my weight to the other leg. "Actually, yes I do. I drank a lot of water earlier, but I'll go later."
"You just took a shower in front of me and now you're being sheepish about taking a leak?"
"I am not peeing while you're in the bathroom with me! If it's such an easy task, then why don't you go ahead and go?" I gestured to the toilet with a smirk on my face.
"Because." He shrugged. "I already peed in the shower."
"Ryan! That's disgusting!"
He nudged me. "Don't act like you've never done it."
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the doorknob again. "I can't go with you in here." I quietly opened the bathroom door, peeking around the corner. I didn't see my dad in my line of sight, so I stepped out into the hallway and signaled Ryan to follow me.
We tiptoed into my bedroom, shutting the door again. Ryan sat down on the edge of my bed. "Do you want to finish watching The Ring?
I continue standing by the door. "That sounds great, but I'm going to head back to the bathroom real quick. Why don't you get it set up while I'm gone?"
As I stepped out of my room and closed the door behind me, my dad approached the hallway. "Get started on your book report yet?"
I put on a fake smile. "I sure did," I replied, not leaving my spot from in front of the door.
"You still keeping the cold air out?" My dad gestured to the door.
"Oh! Yeah." I gave him a fake laugh. "I got cold again after my shower. You don't have to mess with the thermostat though. I had to turn the air conditioning back up during the night. It got too hot, so it's fine how it is. Once I warm up, I'll be fine." I smile again and hope that he walks away soon. To my delight, he does.
I felt bad avoiding my dad like this, but it had to be done. It wasn't anything personal. I was just trying to save my own skin.
After using the bathroom, I quickly rushed back into my bedroom. As I shut the door, I realized that I hadn't instructed Ryan to lock it behind me. That was a risk. I'm lucky that my dad didn't barge in. He really wouldn't have a reason to, but you can never be too careful. I grab my phone off of my nightstand before I join Ryan on the edge of my bed. I notice that he already has the movie up and going. I open my phone and look at the time. "Wow it's already 1:00?" I murmur out loud. "I thought it was still morning." I lay back on my bed with a huff. "We have done nothing all day."
To my surprise, Ryan joins me and lays back on the bed, facing the ceiling just like me. "We took a shower together," he jokes.
"Don't say it like that, Ryan." I scold with a smile.
"So when I join my friends, I can't tell them about the girl who I showered with and who I slept with all weekend?"
I sat up. "Of course not!" I wasn't even trying to be quiet at this point. I full on yelled at him. I decided to lower my volume just a little before I continued speaking. "Don't tell them about this at all," I said in a quieter manner. I got to thinking about this whole situation. I guess I'd never see him again after this, right? I mean, maybe we could be friends after this. It would be a shame to lose contact after spending over 48 straight hours together. "Hey, Ryan?" My tone of voice changes completely, getting much softer.
