"Um, Abby? Where are we going?"
"Somewhere fun," I huffed as I marched down the sidewalk. I was going so fast that I was practically dragging Ryan behind me.
"Oh, come on. Can't you tell me?"
"Fine," I whined. "We're going to the fair! Everything has been so crazy lately that I completely forgot! There's always a fair here sometime in the spring. This year it happened to coincide with my spring break. I was going to invite my friend, Lily, but let's be real. She's probably just going to flake out again."
"Oh," Ryan said, sounding a little confused.
He didn't know who Lily was and I didn't feel like explaining. I was just glad to have someone to go with, and that someone happened to be Ryan Ross, one of the most attractive guys that I had ever seen in my life. And no, I wasn't being dramatic this time.
We walked for about a half hour until we arrived at the fair. There wasn't a ton to do here, but it was certainly more fun than going to the pitiful gas station down the road. "They have some rides over there," I pointed to my left. "The snacks and games are over there," I pointed in front of me. "There's a funhouse there," I pointed to the right. "And they have some baby animals in there."
"Do you want to start with the rides?" Ryan asked.
"Sure! How about the Tilt-A-Whirl?"
"I'm not really the biggest fan of things that spin... One time I went on one of those things with Brendon, and let's just say that ever since then he refers to those rides as the "Tilt-A-Hurl."
"Oh... Well, how about the pirate ship?"
"Sure, that's fine!"
We bought some tickets for the ride and got right on. It turns out that the lines at fairs are pretty short on Monday mornings. We rode the pirate ship a few more times and then ventured off to the giant slide before Ryan suggested that we check out the funhouse.
The line for the funhouse was also pretty nonexistent, so we got in very quickly.
"Whoa!" Ryan exclaimed as he looked around. "This place looks like it came straight out of one of our shows."
He was right. Everything from the decorations right down to the special lighting reminded me of attending one of their concerts.
At the end of the funhouse was a big slide that we both barreled down, laughing as we crashed into the mattress below.
"Is it bad that I want our album to be circus themed after seeing that funhouse?" Ryan asked. "That was so cool! I loved the atmosphere. Imagine creating an album inspired by a place like that! I'd love our first album to give off those vibes. We could make a whole circus tour and really hone in on the theme!"
"It sounds like you've found your inspiration," I laughed.
By now it was late in the afternoon, so we ventured over to get some lunch. "Fried butter on a stick?" I questioned as I read the sign. "That sounds disgusting."
"How about some fried Oreos?" Ryan asked.
"That doesn't sound much better, but it'll do for now."
"Two orders of the fried Oreos."
Once we had our food, I pulled out my phone and checked the time. "Oh my gosh, how is it already 3:30? Where has the day gone?" I whined. "Ryan, we should probably start to head back. Imagine if my dad got home early. We would be busted."
"Aw, really? But we didn't even get to pet the baby animals!"
"There isn't time for baby animals!"
We walked out of the fair and started our journey back to my house. By the time we got there, it was nearly 4:00. "Okay, back to my room for the night," I instructed.
