What?

What!

"I'm gonna be able to understand you!?" I can barely contain my excitement. My feet start swaying, my hands clasped together, and a wide smile spreads across my face

I haven't felt this in a long time. Hope.

"Soon", Green said chuckling."First-calibrate."

"Turn-this-way." Purple turned my head to the left, presenting my right ear. "Small-pinch."

He placed the translator around my ear, then the "small pinch" happened. A small spike-like anchor sunk into the skin behind my ear. I flinch and hiss at the sudden pain, though it quickly subsides to a dull ache. The rest of it sits on my ear, and a small microphone goes into my ear. Similar to a hearing aid, or headphone.

"How long does calibrating it take?" I'm too excited to wait. I have so many questions, and maybe some fears.

"Depends." Red said while running his finger around the object. "Talking-should-help."

"So it can figure out what languages to use?"

"Correct." Red purrs, it's small and hardly audible.

"First-rest." Green interrupted, hands on his hips like a concerned mother. "You-rest."

"But I want to learn, I want to understand." I protest, while trying to fight a yawn.

They all seem surprised by my claim. As if they didn't expect me to make a demand, or that my demand was to learn.

They wish to learn? Perhaps they are more like Yautja than I originally thought. They protest sleep with wide eyes, and happily swaying from side to side.

'It wouldn't be so bad to let them stay up.'

"Fine." I say. Veta turns his head to me, with what I assume to be a glare.

"Yes!" They laugh, and pump their fist in the air. A common 'ooman sign for victory.

"They must rest." Veta crossed his arms and huffed. Clearly he is displeased, but I will make it up to him later.

"They wish to learn, and this could bring you closer together." I point out.

"You want to get to know them as much as we do, Veta." Bahtoh adds in a sassy tone.

Veta simply crosses his arms and huffs, clearly denying the truth. The 'ooman seems lost in thought. They aren't focused on us, zoning out. I wonder what could be happening in that head of theirs. Though they seem to be thinking up questions, ones they'd want the answers to.

》Y/N pov《

What questions should I ask? I want to learn, but I think I should wait to ask the big ones. If I ask small ones now then we will at least get to know each other, and there shouldn't be any problems with their helmets. And if I ask the big questions now the information will be limited by their vocabulary. There is one thing I've been dying to know.

"Ok, I'm ready to ask questions." I say looking up at the trio.

Green looks mildly upset that I'm not resting. Red and Purple, on the other hand, seemed very excited. Red was slightly bouncing, and Purple had his focus on me.

"First-sit" Green held out his hand for me.

He leads us past the kitchen to the in-set seating area facing the window. The red cushions were soft and plush. The pillows around were comfy. I sat in the middle. Red sat on my left followed by Green on his left, then Purple on my right. With how comfortable this 'couch' is combined with the heat coming off their bodies. I could fall asleep right here right now.
