》Y/N pov《
Silence. All that filled the space between me and Ayull was silence. How do I react after that? How do I comfort an alien when it's a human that brought him so much pain?
"Ayull I… I don't know what to say." Looking into his eyes I can see tears gathering on the edges. His neon gaze wasn't on me, it was focused on the setting sun across the many pools of water.
"There is nothing for you to say." Ayull suddenly spoke up, his voice still deep and calm.
It was silent again as we sat on the edge of the plateau. The air was warm but my hands felt cold. I couldn't shake this feeling of mourning, that I could've done something despite knowing that I probably wasn't even alive when it happened.
A splash suddenly distracted me from my thoughts.
Veta and Bahtoh were chasing each other in a wild game of tag. I couldn't help but laugh as I watched from above. Ayull also seemed to enjoy the distraction as he chuckled beside me. His neon eyes followed the two other aliens with a fondness I've rarely seen amongst humans.
"Hey you bosh'tets! Get down here and stop sulking!" Bahtoh shouted towards us before getting tackled into the water.
I couldn't help but laugh as these giant aliens behaved like kids. It brought memories of home… of earth.
"Let's not keep them waiting." Ayull sighed as he stood.
Without another word he leapt from the ledge. I'll never understand just how badass these guys are. Ayull looked like an angel, or at least a pro diver, as he dropped into the water.
"Hey! You gotta wait for me." My hands shook a little with nerves.
I could already see Veta panicking as I leapt from the edge. He really was a worry wart. The water enveloped me in a cold refreshing embrace, until I was yanked to the surface from under my arms. Bahtoh let out a laugh as he began to run with me in his hands.
"So 'oomans can fly." He purred and rubbed his face on my shoulder.
"Yeah, in a plane. Or in a spaceship I guess."

It is always nice to see Y/N and Bahtoh laugh. It makes me feel less concerned about their own worries. But that only means my focus is able to shift towards Ayull.
"You are upset. What happened?" I shift to stand before Ayull and slowly urge him to follow me away from the others.
Ayull was silent as we walked, his eyes focused ahead of him, but his thoughts stuck on the past. This was normal behavior for him, at least when left with himself too long.
"Speak, please." My hand moved towards his and grasped it firmly.
"I told them. About K'tholl and Artemis." Ayull stared down at me with a calculating look in his eyes.
"Oh…" Is all I can offer my mate. His trauma on display and all I can muster up is a simple sound.
Then again, actions speak louder than words. I brought my other hand to his face and rubbed the whiskers along his jaw. Ayull began to purr and relax in my grasp, the tension easing in his shoulders.
"I am surprised. Does it upset you that they know?"
"No." Ayull muttered and moved his hands to my hips. "It is that I felt weak. That I left my soul open to who should be an enemy."
His grip tightened as he snarled lightly.
"But I wasn't met with pain, I was met with… sorrow. Y/N didn't care for the death of Artemis, but for my son they nearly wept."
I had no words. So rarely did we as warriors share wounds of the heart, only with mates or close family.
"I am proud." I say as my other hand moves to Ayull's jaw. "You have opened up so much, it is not easy."
"Thank you, Veta. My mate." Ayull purred and pressed his brow to my own.
A moment of peace to be treasured. But as all things come and go, so does the moment. Bahtoh rounds the corner with Y/N on his shoulders and a smug grin. Before I can realize his plan it is too late.
"Pile!" He and Y/N shouted before tackling Ayull and I.
