_-_-_1 Day before the Party_-_-_
Karls P.O.V
I remember the first time I saw that pendant
"So, the king proposed to you with this?" I asked, holding the purple stone in my hand.
I was sat cuddled in the queens lap by the fireplace. It was late, and I wasn't used to sleeping in the castle at night. She found me wandering the halls, and took me to the library to read stories, but I became infatuated with her pendant.
"Yes, and I've worn it everyday since. It's a symbol of our love" she said, placing her hand over mine.
"Wow," I smiled, cupping it in my hands "is that how you knew he was the one? Because he asked you to marry him?"
"No. Many before him asked me as well, but I said no to all of them" her smile was so sincere. It confused me.
"But...if you said no to them, why did you say yes to him?" I puzzled
"Because....I just knew he was the one", she said, "I loved him"
"OOOOOH, so you didn't love the other guys then, that's why you said no!" I stated, feeling I figured it out
"No, I loved them too"
"But...how, then--I DON'T GET IT" I laugh at it now, but I just remember being so angry that I didn't get it at first. She thought so to, because her light laughing made me livid.
I jumped off her lap and stormed over to the fire place, the warmth instantly made me tired, but I clung to my anger. After a while, I heard her get up and shuffle to me, sitting right behind me.
"You'll love many people in your life, and them you, but your soul only yearns for one other being. I loved ones before, but something told me that it wasn't right. But when I met the king, I didn't have that feeling, in fact, our love felt more right than anything. That's when I knew, karl, that the king is not just my love: he is my soulmate, and I am his."
I felt dizzy, and I slowly fell back onto her lap. My vision hazed as I looked up at her. The glint of the pendant was the only thing I could see.
"We were meant to be...
be be serious, please karl"
"Karl....kaaarrll.....
KARL FOR GOODNESS SAKE MY DEAR"
I snapped back to reality. My mom was gawking at me as the attendant next to her averted his gaze to the interesting appeal of the floor. I looked around confused for a minute, but I soon remembered: My mom was helping me decide what crown I was going to wear to the party tomorrow so it would match my colors; the attendant stood holding a tray with 4 crowns on it. I felt a warmth on my back, and I turned to see I was standing in a sun spot created by an orange stained glass window. We were in one of the sun facing common rooms.
"Well? Are you going to answer me?" she asked again
I tried to speak but nothing came out, the events of my daydream still fresh in my mind. Her face softened in disappointment, and she quickly pointed to a gold crown with green jewels. The attendant nodded and walked away hurriedly as she pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration.
