Jordyn's POV

I sit with my knees into my chest, rocking back and forth while tears soak my face. Carl's screams are faded through the glass, but that just makes me even more uneasy. I have to think of something anything, to get me out of here...

I look around the room for anything that could be helpful. Then my eyes lock on the doorknob. I jump up and sprint towards the door. I kick the doorknob off, and the door swings open. I do the same thing with the door Carl is behind.

Carl's scream are a lot more clearer and louder from this side of the glass, and my heart drops in my stomach.

In instinct, I sprint and tackle Ashton, knocking him to the side. I get on top of him and elbow him in the jaw continuously. He groins and kicks my side, making me tumble to the side, and we trade positions. He pins my hands down with his own and kneels down to where his breaths tickle my ear.

"You know why you're in here, right?"

"No! I didn't do anything wrong! Just leave me alone!"

"Because you dated that little prick," he points to Carl fighting the other guys. "If he wants to act like a fool, he can, but he's gonna be treated like one. Torture." He chuckles.

"Then you could've just hurt me; just leave him alone!"

He gets up and leans to the side of the wall. "You still don't get it, do you? If he's weak, he can't fight back; plus it was more fun this way."

"You make me sick. You're so lucky that you're not going to be in that arena."

"Right back at ya." He winks and walks out.

He winked?

The two guys follow him out.

Carl groins in the corner. I run towards him.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"More importantly," he sits up with difficulty, and I help him a little, "are you?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Now that you are."

"What are you doing here anyway?"

"I..."

I start to tell him actually why I am here, but that'll just make him more worried than he is right now.

"I am just here to show Finnick a piece of my mind." That sounded a lot better in my head.

"Ok. Knock 'em dead. Can you help me stand up?"

I do. They must have beat him pretty bad. He's never asked for my help before.

I prop his arm on my shoulder start to walk to the door, but then stop, dead in my tracks.

"The door is locked."

"I know. I got up so I could do this."

He smashes his lips into mine. He presses my shoulder toward him, making the kiss deeper. This may be the last kiss, last time, last anything of ever seeing, treasuring, or remembering him ever again. I have to make it out of that arena to come back by his side. We're like yin and yang, we have a spot in each other, and if that spot is removed, we're not ourselves, and without each other, we're just half of something beautiful. I have to stay to keep that beautiful something whole, no matter what I have to do.
