Lizzie POV

I can't help but smile as I look down at her. Her head lays on my chest, her left arm holds onto my waist. Her lips are slightly parted as she lets out slow calm breaths. The constant furrow between her brows finally disappeared. She finally seems to be able to relax. I comb my fingers through her hair, thinking about everything that happened in the last 48 hours. We definitely have to talk.

My stomach growls quietly and I look to my side seeing the food I brought still untouched right next to the bed. It's surely cold by now. But I don't care. I brought Chinese food and that's super delicious. Whether it's cold or not.

I cautiously try to reach the bag without waking her up. My fingers are only inches apart from it, but my arm is just too short. Another growl of my stomach scolds me for not eating enough today.

A low chuckle gets my attention.

"You hungry?", Y/n asks. Her voice sounds sleepy.

"Actually yeah, but I can wait. Just go back to sleep.", I say, wanting nothing more than for her to keep her peace.

"It's okay. I'm awake now and I'm super hungry anyway."

Y/n lifts her head and readjusts her position, so that she's sitting next to me. She clenches her jaw slightly, trying to suppress the pain she's clearly in.

"Hey, are you okay? Do you need any help or-"

"I'm fine.", she cuts me off.

"Okay.", I say unconvinced, but I let it slide. I don't want to bother her or anything.

"Soo, I hope that you're hungry because I've brought a lot of food.", I tell her with a big smile on my face as I climb out of the bed and lift the bag on the table next to her bed.

"What do you have?", she mirrors my smile.

"Someone's excited for food, huh?", I tease with a smirk on my face.

"Hey to my defense, hospital food is bad. Like really bad most of the time.", she laughs but stops almost immediately. Her face twisted in pain.

"I hate that I can't tense my stomach muscles.", Y/N says annoyed.

I nod. "It's really a shame. I just hope you don't lose that sixpack of yours in the next couple of months."

She throws a pillow at me and tries to suppress a laugh.

"Idiot! Stop making me laugh!"

"Sorry, can't help it.", I shrug and hand her with a smile on my face her plate. "Soo, we have spring rolls, fried noodles and Peking duck with rice. I just put a little bit of everything on your plate. I hope you like it. It's probably cold by now."

"It will be better than anything I get here, so I'm happy.", she replies and begins to eat as soon as she takes the plate and places it in her lap.

I take place on a chair next to the bed and begin to eat as well.

Her eyes light up as soon as she takes the first bite. She wiggles a little, clearly happy. I don't think she even notices her little happy food dance.

"It's good?", I ask and give her a smile.

"The best!", she exclaims.

We continue to eat, falling in a comfortable conversation while sharing funny stories and giggles, although she tries to suppress them most of the time and just grins like an idiot. I don't think I've ever seen her this carefree and joyful.

I haven't really paid attention to her in these last weeks as I tried my hardest to ignore my feelings for her, because I was scared of them and didn't want them to affect our relationship. Which they did though, just in a different kind of way. But I realized that she has gone quieter. Because I was too loud with my problems. And there's a lot going on. We have to explore this thing between us, we have to find the shooter and there are still a few things I have to discuss with Robbie. Also, Y/n wanted to go to Afghanistan and quit her job. I have no idea what she's thinking of that plan now.
