Lizzie POV

These last few days went by in a blur. I was staying by Y/n's side most of the time to make sure she was taken care of. It was nice but also strange in some kind of way. I mean due to our work together we've spent a lot of time with each other but that stopped when I met Robbie. And now I have the feeling that there's still some tension going on between us. Y/n still doesn't trust me fully yet. She hasn't let her walls completely down and I can't blame her for that. She's been through a lot and has to learn that she can trust me again. I just hope that we get enough time for that. Y/n still wants to go to Afghanistan and I hate this idea. I hate that we will be separated for a while, I hate that there's a chance that she might not come back and I hate the possibility of losing her.

"Hey.", Y/n speaks softly and breaks me out of my train of thought.

She sits in the hospital bed wearing an Army shirt and reading a book that Kara got her. The doctors say that she can go home tomorrow and I am so ready to leave this stupid hospital behind.

"What's on your mind?", Y/n asks me.

"I'm just thinking about...the future.", I answer vaguely.

"About the things we can do when I'm finally out of this bed?", Y/n wiggles her eyebrows comically and grins.

I throw a pillow at her but can't stop the smile that's growing on my lips.

"Actually no, but now that you've said it... what do you have in mind?", I ask her with a smirk.

"Well...", she trails off and takes my hand to pull me on her lap.

Y/n sets her right hand on my knee to hold me close and pushes with her other hand a strand of hair out of my face and tucks it behind my ear revealing my neck to her.

She leans in and whispers in my ear, "I could think of a few things."

Her breath tickles my skin as she begins to trail kisses down my neck. I almost let out a moan when she sucks on my pulse point and soothes the spot with her tongue. Her right hand wanders up my thigh, squeezing it. I close my eyes and sigh.

"But I guess we have to wait until I'm released.", she whispers in my ear and pulls back.

"Hey!", I grumble. "That's not fair."

"Sorry, love.", she grins. She is definitely not sorry.

I roll my eyes playfully. "Such a tease."

"No, but seriously-", she pulls me even closer and rubs up and down my back. "there is something I want to do."

"And what's that?", I ask with a smile.

"Will you go out with me? On a date?", she looks up to me, her eyes sparkling with hope.

"Hmm let me think about it.", I tease and watch as her smile falters.

Does she really think I would say no to her?

"Of course, I'll go on a date with you. How couldn't I?"

Relief washes over her face. "Oh good. That's great. I'll plan something you'll like. Hopefully."

"You didn't really doubt that I would say yes, did you?", I want to know.

She hesitates for a moment. "I was ... worried that you've maybe changed your mind. You chose Robbie because he provided stability and safety and that is something that's even more difficult with me now with this whole Afghanistan thing going on. I'd understand if you didn't want that."

She looks down on her lap, fiddling with her fingers.

I thought about Robbie. Yesterday, I finally gathered enough courage to talk to him properly.
