When Bokuto opened his eyes, his gaze immediately went to Akaashi, sleeping with his head against Bokuto's shoulder.

He tried to adjust his position and let out a small gasp as pain shot through his body. Slowly, Bokuto glanced down at his stomach. Bloodied bandages covered his abs.

Akaashi stirred slightly, and Bokuto winced as he stretched out his free arm to brush hair back from the prince's face. He frowned when he noticed the blood soaked shirt Akaashi wore.

Bokuto pressed a kiss to Akaashi's forehead before falling back to sleep.

The next time Bokuto awoke, he felt fingers stroking through his hair. He smiled softly and cracked open his eyes to see Akaashi smiling back at him, wearing a new shirt that showed bandages on his arms.

"Akaashi..."

"I'm right here."

Bokuto stared into deep green eyes and gulped. "I love you."

Akaashi's eyes widened in shock before he burst into laughter. Bokuto marveled at the rare grin on his face.

"I know. And I love you."

With more care than the last time, Bokuto slowly lifted himself into a sitting position. He couldn't stop the tears that welled up in his eyes from the pain.

Akaashi's smile turned to a frown and he moved from the chair to the cot Bokuto rested on, sitting by his legs. Akaashi grabbed Bokuto's face in his hands and kissed him.

"Don't push yourself. Please." He looked at Bokuto with concerned eyes, causing the guard to nod slightly.

"My parents are here. When you're well enough, they'd like to talk to you. Not yet though. I'm not letting them bother you right now."

"Your... Parents?" Bokuto rasped. It was still hard for him to talk, much to his annoyance. "Battle?"

Ah. Akaashi had forgot that Bokuto hadn't been awake when he told him.

The black haired prince nodded. "Right. The battle ended four days ago. We won, thanks to your genius planning." Bokuto grinned at that, and Akaashi's heart melted. "Peace talks are going to begin in two days. We're still in the field. We didn't want to risk moving you and opening your wound back up. Kuroo and Kenma stayed too."

Relief flashed in Bokuto's eyes before he leaned back, and the tears that had been welling up fell down his face.

Akaashi reached for Bokuto's hand. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." Bokuto forced a smile. "Just... Hurts a lil. L-like a splinter."

Rolling his eyes, Akaashi eased himself down so he layed next to Bokuto. "Really, Bokuto? A splinter?"

"Mhm."

"Wow you're strong. Or stupid. Not sure which."

"Hey!" Bokuto pouted, yet still he snuggled up against Akaashi.

"You scared me," Akaashi whispered. "I was so, so scared. I worried you wouldn't wake up, that you would leave me."

Bokuto raised a brow. "I told you... I won't leave you."

"I know. But that doesn't mean I can't worry."

"Yeah yeah."

A cool breeze ruffled through the tent, and followed by it was Kuroo and Akaashi.

Akaashi smiled when he saw Bokuto's eyes light up even further.

Kuroo grinned at his friend, the relief on his face obvious. "Hey man."
