Sweat dripped down Akaashi's face as he blocked a blow from a sword. Again and again and again.

Bokuto grinned the whole time and only stopped when he noticed the prince's face. "You're getting sloppy. Do you need to take a break?"

Akaashi dropped his sword and sighed.
"Just for a few minutes."

"As you wish," Bokuto laughed as he dropped his sword as well. Akaashi watched as he stretched out his arms. He'd barely broken a sweat.

"How is it that you're better than the majority of the guards in this place?" Akaashi couldn't lie, he was a bit jealous.

"As I said the other night: practice, my prince."

"Smartass," Akaashi muttered under his breath.

"I heard that."

Another guard, around the same age as Bokuto, walked into the training room. "Come on, Bokuto, you're late for our meeting."

"Ah shit. Coming Washio." Bokuto turned to Akaashi and smirked. "You and I will continue this later."

Bokuto silently watched from the doorway as Akaashi went through a seemingly endless stack of papers. Of all the things one could hate about being a prince, Bokuto thought that was worthy of the most hated title.

After watching the prince suffer for long enough, Bokuto cleared his throat.

Akaashi's head snapped up and his eyes locked with Bokuto's. A small smile formed on his face.

"I was beginning to wonder when my ever so perfect guard would show up."

A low chuckle escape from Bokuto. "Well I'm afraid your perfect guard isn't here for pleasantries."

Akaashi groaned. "What is it now?"

"The king and queen need to speak to you."

With a heavy sigh, Akaashi stood from his desk and walked next to Bokuto. He gave his prince a sympathetic smile.

"Hey, look on the bright side. You get out of doing all of that paper work!"

"I'd rather go through a thousand papers than talk to my parents right now."

Bokuto patted his friends shoulder. "There there." It was all he could do to not laugh.

Akaashi paced around his room angrily, muttering under his breath. It had only been two weeks since his parents announced his "want of a suitor and future king or queen" and already a hundred people had tried to get an audience with him. All of them succeeded.

At least his parents had taken into consideration his attraction to boys and girls. But still... One hundred people in two weeks? It was utterly insane.

"I'm so damn tired of all of this. I'm tired of everyone my age constantly asking for my hand in marriage. I'm tired of constantly being watched. I just want to be left alone!"

Bokuto, who'd been watching him silently, looked at Akaashi with sad eyes. He ran a hand through his two-toned hair. "Do you want me to leave?" He asked quietly.

Akaashi stopped his pacing and whirled to face his guard. "No- no, please don't leave. You're... The only person I don't mind having around."

The boy nodded. "Alright then. Akaashi, you're coming with me."

Without his concent, Bokuto grabbed Akaashi's hand and hauled him out of the prince's room and into his. He marched over to a painting and hauled it aside to reveal a door.

"Follow me."

Akaashi did as instructed and follow Bokuto past the door and into a narrow passageway. They walked for only a minute before entering a small, cozy room.

Akaashi looked around the room. "What is this place?"

Bokuto crossed his arms and grinned. "This, your highness, is my secret room. And now it's yours too. I come here when I need to get away from everyone and Washio tales over for me."

"You want to get away from people? Don't you love attention?"

Bokuto glared at the prince. "Hey! Just because I like showing off my swordsmanship doesn't mean I need attention all the time," he grumbled.

Akaashi laughed. "Whatever you say." He paused and looked back at his friend. "Are you sure I can come here? I mean, it's your getaway."

Smiling, Bokuto nodded. "Whatever's mine is yours, Akaashi."
