' Herb POV '
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BE-
...
I groaned softly, rubbing my eyes as I sat up from my bed. Looking over on my desk top, a blurry image of a ringing phone waved it's way at me. I reached over and picked up the phone. Oh. It's her. I picked up the phone.
"... Yeah? Hey Mom."
"What?!"
"That's great! I'll bring you a gift when you come...Alright, bye."
I'm so happy. It's been so long since Mom visited our Kingdom. I wonder how long she'll be staying for? No matter, I needed to get ready. I stood up from my bed and put on my clothes and apron. Carrying the watering can, I did my daily routine of caring for the lilies, then the roses, then the daisies that I recently bought.
I think they grow quite wonderfully. I went inside of the greenhouse and sat down on the garden chair, carrying a piping hot cup of lemon-raspberry tea. Everyday is the same for me, but I'm perfectly happy with the ways things were.
I sipped on my tea as I waited for customers to come. There was always a tapping noise on the tiles when someone was near, and thats how I knew when to hide my tea (to look professional, of course).
I waited and waited. Huh, I guess theres very little gardeners in town today, I thought.
I was about to leave the room and go outside for a walk, when the flower shop's door creaked open. I quickly turned around to see a red haired male walk in. He looked dazed, as if he had just been asleep.
"W-welcome to my flower shop! Would you like to take a look around?" I nervously laughed, edging over to the table to try and cover up my tea. Talk about bad timing. The customer didn't reply, and slowly zombie-walked over to the watering cans.
"Oh! Pardon me if I'm interfering, but are you interested in planting your own garden? Then I recommend these water cans! They're easily affordable and can hold twice as many liters of water than a regular-"
"Shut the fuck up. I'm not here for some kind of flower shit." He yawned, shooing me away. He didn't even look at me! Gosh. Wait, then why was he here? This is a flower shop.
I watched him walk around the shop a bit. Reading the signs and feeling all the leaves. He looked through every seedling packet I had and even rummaged through all the racks of aprons. Just what was he doing? Slowly, I walked over there to try to get him to leave.
"Uhm... sir, if it's possible, since you're not here to- well, buy anything, is it possible for you to daze off somewhere else?" I tried to escort him to the door again, but he just wouldn't budge. Suddenly, he whipped around, his red hair skimming my face.
Before I knew it, he had a hold of my waist, and his face was terribly close to mine.
I was in shock as I felt my face become red. We were so close that I could hear his breathing against my nose. It felt electrifying.
I could see his eyes. A hint of dark purple shone underneath the bright light, but that was immediately covered up by his strong scent of alcohol. Ah... he's drunk, I thought. But even so, why... why is my heart beating so fast? It was practically thumping it's way into my ears.
We must've stared at each other for a good few seconds before I snapped back, pushing him away.
"I-I'm sorry, sir. Please leave!" I hid my face away from him, I couldn't stand to see him, after all, I don't even know who he is!
But he still walked in front of me and lifted my chin up, allowing him to see my flustered expression. He smirked.
"I was only trying to tease you, but after a good look at your face, I can tell you're pretty cute." He let go of my chin. The second he did that, I rushed to the door and opened it, closing my eyes and shouted: "LEAVE!"
He looked stunned- no, surprised for a second, then slowly walked his way out the door, but before he did, he spun around and stared deep into my eyes for one more second. I tensed up.
"Tell me, pretty boy, your name."
"W-why would I tell you that?"
"Because I want to know"
"..."
"H-herb."
The customer smirked, flipped his hair around, and left. Before the door completely shut, I realized that he never introduced himself to me!
"Hey! Wait! What about you-"
But the door was already shut.
