'Sparkling POV'

Stop this Sparkling. Stop this! No.. no no no no! Everything I've worked hard to maintain... this life of just living to fulfill what I needed to do. Everything has fallen at the feet of Herb. Even his name is so perfect... wow.

I love him. I can't deny it anymore. I even left all my bartender duties to Taffy this morning just to search for Herb. I love him so much- I wish he can just live in my apartment forever. And ever. And ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. And I'll love him forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

I stared at his blushing cheeks. I wanted to kiss them. I want him. I want all of him. I reached out and slowly touched his hand.

Herb flinched. He looked at me.

"I...uhm, Sparkling... you're hand-"

"-I know what I'm doing with my hands."

I saw Herb's eyes widen as his face turned bright red. He looked away from me. Did I anger him?

I took his chin and lifted it up, he allowed it, and I could see that he was on the verge of crying. He was going to cry. I placed my hands on either sides of his cheeks.

"Herb... remember what I said last night? Don't cry... please don't cry! I meant what I had said. I would rather die than see you cry. So don't cry.. don't cry..." I hugged him again. I could hear him sobbing behind my back. The scariest part is, I don't even know if it's because of me.

Herb. It was love at first sight- could you please give me a chance? That's what I wanted to say. But will he accept me?

I took his hands.

"Will you... mind going somewhere with me? To talk it out?" I stared deep into his eyes. They shone under the blazing sun.

Herb looked at me, sniffling. "...al-alright. My flower shop..."

"What?"

"I...I said maybe at my flower shop..."

Oh my gosh. I'm going to his house. Focus, Sparkling, focus!

I let him lead the way as we walked through town, our finger intertwined. They were soft. We both didn't speak the whole time. I can tell he wasn't trying to look at me, so I didn't try to look at his face either. Ah, his store's this one? I thought as he unlocked the door. I've passed this shop many times before, as it was on my way to and from the store. Why didn't I see this angel before?

Once we get in, I pulled up a chair and let him sit down. By now the tears on his face have dried. We still didn't talk.

"I'm sorry."

"What are you talking about?"

I asked him. He still wasn't looking at me. "I...I never meant to cause such chaos for you. First yesterday and now today-" "No! I...I've been searching for you all morning just to check up on you!" I took him by the hands again. They flinched.

The feeling of regret came through, and I led my hands back on my lap. I looked down. "I... I wanted to make sure if you were alright. Perhaps... do you know that red haired guy at the bar yesterday?"

He didn't respond.

I knew it. I slammed my hands on the table and stood up: "What did he do? Tell me! Please, Herb!" I could feel my hands starting to shake. Why him? Vampire went too far this time.

"...I...he came to my shop." Herb spoke. My heart froze. "..I think he likes me."

Something inside me snapped.

I rushed up to him and pinned him against the wall, the leaves and flowers around us shook. My brain was hurting, maybe it was because I couldn't think. I felt like I had no control over my body.

"Did..." I started, "...did he- k...kiss you?" Something throbbed in my chest. Herb's face was red- like, really red. He looked at my chest.

"N...no."

I sighed with relief. Then I realized what I was doing. I stood up and walked towards the door, ready to leave. My face was blushing so hard, I couldn't face him.

"S, sparkling? Where are you going?" Herb called out from behind me.

"Nothing. I... I just felt like I should be headed for my bar. You know, I can't just leave everything to my employee..." I muttered. My cheeks started to burn. I was about to open the door when I heard Herb's stuttering voice again.

"I..."

I peeked over at him.

"... what is it, Herb?" The name burnt my tongue.

I watched as he bashfully tugged on his sleeves, and looked down at the ground. He was muttering things under his breath, which I could not hear.

"I... I'll go with you then."

...

I think my heart just exploded.
