The next afternoon
You sat next to the pink-haired man on the sofa, his eyes remained trained on the book he held in his hand as he sipped a cup of coffee.
Leaning closer to him, you peered over his arm to catch a glimpse of the pages.
"Whatcha readin?"
He didn't bother answering. He scowled at you, snapping the book shut and placing it down on the coffee table along with his cup of brew.
"Don't you have something to be doing around this time of day?"
"Like what?"
"I don't know... perhaps something like breaking the loop that's been placed upon me permanently."
"Oh yeah, I guess you're right. I forgot."
Diavolo grits his teeth together, veins popping from his neck and forehead. You stood and walked into the kitchen, rummaging through the drawers and pulling out a flip phone. After checking to see that the device was charged you made your way back into the living room to plop down beside Diavolo once more.
"I'm going out to meet up with my team. If anything happens you can use this to contact me."
You took the man's hand and placed the phone in it before getting up and heading toward the front door.
"I'll be back around 8 tonight. I'll make sure to bring back dinner, but if you get hungry there's stuff in the fridge and pantry and there should be a few cookbooks on the bookshelf where you got that book from."
You pointed to the book with the coffee mug on top of it.
Diavolo huffed, rolling his eyes and picking his beverage and book up once more before he began reading from where he had left off.
"Alright then old man, I'll see ya later."
"Just leave already you brat."
