Fresher’s week was now over and everyone was well into their courses. The first week was a little frightening as it seemed like a sudden overload of work after a summer off however, this was expected. Allen and Gemma were in the same class as they were both studying marketing and advertisement; this way I was able to see more of her as they both walked out of lectures together and Allen and I would tend to meet up often after lessons. It was just by chance she would always be there and due to these occurrences we happen to become very close lately.

After the night where the mishap had taken place, I genuinely felt more affectionate towards Gemma yet it seemed as though it was too early to say or do anything and she also seemed really in to her studies. Would she be interested in relationships at the moment? What I learned about Gemma was that she really wants to do well in life and prove herself to others and I would hate it if I was to blame for interrupting these aims. Waiting for the right time and moment, I remained withdrawn from the entire thought of it.

It was a Wednesday evening and I was planning to meet up with a couple of class mates to work on our first project together. Walking silently into the library as a group of five, we grabbed a table not trying to disrupt the few around us. “Okay guys, we’ve understood the concept so now how are we going to make it happen?” “Well I know this is a very basic idea but how about if we set up a website to promote the entire aspect. Physical promotion costs a hell of a lot of money. This way is cheap, free and can get across to double the amount of people than handing out leaflets; maybe even more.”  As the other four engaged in the conversation on how to promote our product, I glanced around the room at how deep into thoughts everyone was. I certainly need some sort of motivation boost.

Sitting at the back in a white wool jumper, biting the tip of her pen and ruffling her hair in frustration was Gemma. I had no interest in promotional theories any longer and was trying to divert myself out of the conversation. “What do you think Finn?” Not again! “Umm... huh… yeah, I totally agree with James. The website seems like a fantastic idea.” “Well that’s sorted then. We’ll meet here tomorrow at eight and start on the designs. Everyone make sure to bring all your equipment.” At that, I shot out of my seat and walked the opposite direction. Half way across the library and there was a halt. Should I disrupt her or would that annoy her? She’s too nice to tell me to go away as well… hmmm… I turned back around and took my first step. “Finn!” Swiftly rotating on the back of my heels, I walked back over to her. “And where were you going?” She asked mockingly. “I… ummm…” My hand rose to my head. “Sit” she requested as she pointed to the seat in front of her. I pulled the chair out and silently sat down at her command. “I thought I’d be disturbing you so...” “And?” “And you wouldn’t want to…” “Shut up Finn.” She laughed as she took a bite out her apple offering me a bite but I refused. She shrugged and took another bite.

“What brings you here then?” “Ah, we were just working on our project. What about you?” “Research” her eyes rolled as her head bowed to the table. A snigger left my parted lips. “Well you carry on; I don’t want to be a nuisance.” “No. Wait…”

Gemma’s P.O.V

My hand sprung in his direction. Don’t make is obvious Gemma. Just don’t. It staggered back down. “I… um… don’t leave. It’s so boring.” I quickly fibbed; I just wanted him to stay a bit longer. Finn sat back down in his chair. “But Gemma, I don’t want to be a disrup—” “I’m done now anyways.” I hastily closed all my books and lunged them into my left arm. “Shall we?” He giggled and pushed the table top as he stood back up. “Where are we going now?” He held out his arm in a gentlemanly manner. “Well I need to put these books back so you can come chill in my room?” In approval, he started to walk dragging me along.
