I walked into my bedroom to find another sheet of A4 paper lying on the floor. It was Gemma! I still can’t believe it! Maybe she knew it was me who lived in this room all along. I picked the sheet up off the dusty carpet and anxiously turned it over. ‘I’m Gemma. We never seem to meet.’ Arrgh she didn’t! I guess if she did then she would make more of an attempt to meet up, right?

Gemma’s P.O.V

After leaving Allen I grabbed a few essentials from the university stationary shop; pens, notepads, more notepads – then made my way back to my dorm room.

I returned yet there was no note from my stranger friend. Maybe they haven’t seen mine yet?

After packing a small backpack to return to London for a week, I went to let Liz to let her know where I’d be.

“When would you be back?” She asked anticipated for a response. “By fresher’s week. I’m just going back to collect a few more stuff I left behind.” Awwh…” This was my mother all over again. “Well… Okay…” She permitted. This forced a laugh out of me at how cute she was acting. I jumped in to cuddle her. “Oh, by the way Gems, Finn was looking for you.” “Finn who?” “Finn Harries? He said he knew you?”  Finn? Wow! Really? I thought he had forgotten me this whole time. If he had truly wanted to see me, we would have met by now as Allen knew where I was accommodated and I am pretty sure they have spoken since then. I mean, I left him speaking to Finn on the phone he must have mentioned something. “Oh is it? What did he say?” I looked at her intrigued by my own question. “That…” she began to recall the conversation. “That he has been waiting for your phone call and that he has been looking for you ever since he’s been here.” “Awwh, did you tell him about how my mobile swiped?” “Yeah I did and I also told him where your room was.” “And what did he say to that?” Yes, I was slightly curious. “He didn’t really say anything but he seemed happier than when we first started the conversation when I mentioned it.” My face lit up. “Yeah, a bit like that.” A blush raised on my cheek as I playfully hit Liz on the arm. “Oh my God you like him?!” “No!” I stubbornly denied. “Don’t lie to me” Liz sang as she raised her eyebrows and danced in circles around me. “Oh shut up!” The smile I tried to hold in broadly spread across my face. “I have to go. Dad’s waiting for me in the car outside” I said as I tried to divert the conversation yet still smiling like an idiot. “Don’t mention any of this to Finn!” I demanded trying to look fierce which ended up in laughter. “I won’t” she replied as she laid a single finger on her rosy lip looking like an innocent child. We both burst out into laughter.

I laid a peck on her cheek as I left for London. “Tell Finn I said Hi.”

Finn’s P.O.V

After setting the basics of my bedroom up, I grabbed my navy blue hoodie hoping to find Gemma this time. I briefly glanced at myself in the small mirror besides my front door as I quickly fixed my gelled back hair yet no difference was made, popped a chewing gum in my mouth and strolled out. Walking anxiously to the end of the corridor I knocked on the door *no response* knocked once again. Hmmm…

“There’s no point, she’s gone” called a voice from behind me. Liz was lying against her door frame, arms crossed as she spoke to me. “What do you mean gone?” Confusion and fear both built up not only inside me but clearly showing across my face. She stood up straight and walked towards me holding a pretty straight face. “She said hi to you” “Liz you’re confusing me!” All of a sudden she burst out into laughter. “I’m joking Finn! I’m not trying to intimidate you.” Her face returned to its natural, playful smile. “The thing is, Gemma had to go back to London until fresher’s week so she could finish getting some of her stuff.” A look of understanding released through my expressions. “Oooh” “I told her you asked and she said hi” “Only a hi?” I really wanted to hear more.  “Sorry, we didn’t really speak about it, she had to leave.” I tried to hide my disappointment but clearly wasn’t doing a very good job at it. “Here, do you want her new number so you can call her or something?” She asked politely. “Ah, yes please!” Don’t look desperado Finn. “I mean yeah, that’d be great.” “Gemma… Gemma” Liz murmured as she scrolled through her contacts “Ahh, here we go Ge—” She let out a loud shreik. “What?!” “I just deleted it!” She looked apologetically at me. I let out a small sigh as I slowly blinked. “Don’t worry” I turned around to start walking. “I am so sorry Finn” she sounded really upset. “It’s fine, honestly!” I tried to say as politely as possible. “After all you’ve done for me…” Now Liz had looked defeated. She slid down the wall and sat on the floor. I kneeled down and squatted next to her, one hand on her knee for my own body support and her comfort. “Don’t worry about it at all. She will be back right?” I forced a smile. “You’re so understanding Finn. I feel so bad.”
