After the incident, waking up in the mornings was always difficult for her; all she wanted to do was lie in bed with the covers over her head and cry the days away. But she had to get up and get ready for school even though everything was different without him.

Billy Hargrove was all she could have wanted in a relationship; even when he had his problems, he was and still is ideal in her eyes. She enjoyed running her fingers through his hair while his head was in her lap while they talked. They were Hawkins' power couple, and everyone aspired to be like them. She misses his smile and the way he smelled like cigarettes and his silly Cologne, which she told him she despised but secretly loved.

She lost most of her friends except for those who were there for her even when she attempted to shut them out after he died. She was different when he died, and she felt different. She began to lose control of her temper and suffer from severe panic attacks, to the point of passing out. No one understood how to help her, including her younger brother Dustin, who tried to stay by her side to help her cope with his loss but was turned down. She kept everyone out since she didn't want her new problem to harm them.

She saw herself as a monster with red smoke flowing from her fingertips, the ability to move objects with her mind, manipulate people, and see and hear other people's thoughts.

She was well aware of what others thought of her; she simply didn't care. She just wanted it to stop, for her life to return to normal, but in Hawkins, that isn't going to happen. She senses something horrible is about to happen, but she has no idea what it is.

Rolling over, she groans and looks at the clock, which reads 7:10. "Fuck," she mumbles as she sits up in bed, removing the blanket from her body.

Athena rises and stretches, letting out a long yawn as she walks to her closet to select a school outfit. She pulls out a white cropped tank top and trousers, slips them on, and walks out the door, her fingers going through her hair to try to untangle the knots. She walks down the corridor.

As she walks down the stairs, her mother welcomes her with a kind smile, which she appreciates. "Good morning, honey," says her mother. "Did you sleep well?" Mrs. Henderson asks as she sits in her living room recliner patting the cat.

Even though it's a simple question, it weighs heavily on her; no, she didn't get enough sleep. The nightmares that keep her awake at night, the tossing and turning while fantasizing over and over in her mind of his death, she sometimes desires for it all to stop, for her to be with him wherever he is-

"sweetie?" Athena's mother interrupts her thoughts, causing her to look up surprised.

"what? Yes, I had a good night's sleep, in fact, I had a great night's sleep." With a smile on her face, Athena lies to her, letting the smile drop as she turns around and hears her mother reply, "That's amazing honey!"

Athena enters the hallway from the living room, hearing a faint "That's a negative, Dusty Bun."

Walking up to Dustin's door from inside his room, she places her ear against it and listens in. Suzie's voice can be heard over the radio, followed by Dustin's swearing.
