"Y/n, can I ask you a question?"
"You just did."
"Can I ask you two questions?"
"You just did."
"Okay, can I ask you four questions?"
"You just did."
"When?"
"Now."
"Y/n?"
"What?"
"... why were you acting like a bitch tonight?"
"Did you just call me a bitch?"
"No, I said you were acting like one."
"I wasn't acting like anything. This is just who I am and if you don't like it then deal with it."
"You're forgetting we live together."
"So?"
"So I know who you are. I know how kind and sweet and funny you are. You're not a bitch, so why are you acting like one?"
"I'm not" you lied.
"Y/n" Bucky stopped you both walking and stood in front of you. "What's going on?"
"Nothings going on."
"You can be honest with me. If the idea of dating me is so repulsive, just tell me and we'll end it right now."
"What? Bucky, no... no you are so great and I had a wonderful time tonight..."
"So what is it?"
You didn't know what to say. You couldn't tell him the truth. You weren't ready for him to know.
"I think you deserve more than me."
"Bullshit."
"Wow. Okay. Um-"
"Why would you think I deserve more than you?"
"Because you like me and I don't know how I feel yet."
"So you haven't figured it out yet. I don't care. Y/n, I'm not expecting anything from you. We've been on one date."
"You're not mad?"
"Of course not. I do like you, I just need to know if you like me enough to go on a second date?"
You knew you shouldn't. But you did want to.
"You know what, I would like that."
---
The next day, you walked into the living room where Bucky, Sam and Steve were sitting.
They looked up at you; Bucky couldn't help grinning.
"What?" you shrugged.
"Is that my hoodie?"
"Oh. Kinda. Do you mind?"
"Of course not. It looks good on you."
You smiled, blushing a little, and went to sit with him. You sat next to him under his arm and he pulled you closer to him. He kissed your forehead and your cheeks tinted an even rosier shade of pink.
"Aw you guys look so cute together" Sam commented.
"Um-"
"We're not together" Bucky interrupted you.
"You're not?" Steve asked.
"No."
"Oh."
"So how was the date?" Sam asked.
"Good" you admitted. You thought it went great.
"Will there be a second?"
"Yeah" you said confidently, but still looked up at Bucky for confirmation.
"Definitely" he smiled.
---
That evening, you had gone to find Bucky in his room but he wasn't there. You sat on his bed but your fatigue overcame you enough for you to fall asleep. You were out cold by the time he arrived back to his room.
He smiled at the sight of you asleep on his duvet.
You had changed to sleep in one of his T-shirts; nothing else so he covered you up with a blanket.
You had dropped your clothes onto the floor, including his hoodie.
He picked it up, but noticed something in the hood.
He pulled out the small clump of hair. He looked at you in the bed. Bucky had no idea how much hair women typically lose, but he never thought it was this much. He decided not to say anything; he definitely did not want to wake you up.
He wasn't going to bring it up. He was starting to piece it together on his own.
What happened about a week and a half later confirmed his theory.
