chapter 8

It's the first weekend of September. It's nice but I miss waking up and being able to see friends. Yea well, remember when I said I had no friends? I do, her name is Kaitlyn. And she texted and asked if I could drive her to a date in Buford. I thought that name sounded familiar but I couldn't quite wrap my head around where I heard it.

So I got up out of bed, got some jean shorts on, and a blue crop top. I put my shoes on and grabbed my phone. Grabbed my car keys and walked to my car. I'm just gonna get food on the way there anyway.

" Hey!" Kaitlyn spoke, getting into the truck she smiled.

" Hey, you excited?" I asked driving toward the place.

" Uh, nervous, he's really nice and cute so I think you will like him!" She explained.

" Well, I'll have to meet him after your date!" I laughed.

" For sure!" She smiled. We drove to Starbucks and I offered to get her something but she said no because they were going to an arcade and eating pizza there I guess.

The drive was only 15 minutes and when we got there she just walked in so I never saw who her date was. She said she was only gonna be there like an hour or two so I went to Target and bought a couple of things and then just drove around.

She texted me to come to pick her up in 5 minutes so I drove back to the place and parked, she told me to come in so I could meet him except when I said that earlier I was joking. I slowly walked in and spotted her sitting there at a table. I walked over and he wasn't there.

" Oh hey, where is he?" I asked.

" Bathroom! Oh wait there he is!" She smiled and pointed to the bathroom. The boy that came out was definitely not who I was expecting. He had his head down and looked up about 5 feet before he got to the table. His eyes widened and he just stared at me. We just stood there for a hot minute.

" Uh, you guys okay? Do you know each other?" Kaitlyn asked.

" Uh, I- I'm uh gonna wait in the car, come out soon," I stuttered. I smiled at her and started walking away.

" Sage wait!" Jaden yelled.

" How do you know each other?" Kaitlyn asked walking toward us.

" I went to camp with Jaden, we uh," I started. I was trying to explain it in the easiest way possible.

" We um," He tried.

" DATED!?" She yelled.

" No!" I slightly yelled. She sighed and just looked at Jaden.

" Nothing happened between us!" I expressed.

" Nothing?!" He questioned with a hurt face.

" Fine! Jaden and I were close, yea I liked him. It didn't work out because I couldn't trust him anymore so I gave up, we didn't talk the rest of the summer till the last day of camp, that's all that happened," I explained.

" Well did you like her?" She asked him.

" I mean yeah! But it's nothing now!" He claimed. We were standing by ourselves kind of by the door now.
