It was a coincidence surely? The first two times Eddie came couldn't have meant anything, he just wanted videotapes and you sold them. So why were you kinda sad that you hadn't seen him in a couple of weeks? You missed his mischievous grin, that glimmer in his eyes that showed he was truly listening to every word you said.
The rainy weather outside reflected your miserable mood, you'd been forced to cover for your friends again. The store was particularly empty, and today you'd decided to have a movie day at work. It was Monday after all, no one ever came in on Mondays, especially Monday evenings.
The familiar tunes of simple minds started playing and your heart fluttered as John bender strutted into shot. The breakfast club was like a comfort blanket. Maybe it was because it taught you that everyone was an outsider in their own mind, or maybe it was because you had a huge crush on Judd nelson. Either way when it had come out you'd made Steve and Robin go and see it at the theatre 8 times. And yes, you did cry every single time.
"What a movie..." a voice yells from behind you. A warm body sliding onto the side of the counter beside you. Damn Eddie Munson.
The shock of the pure volume that had burst in your eardrums triggered a chain reaction of events. First, you squealed like a bird about to be targeted by its prey, second, you lost your balance on the desk your body slowly falling and thirdly, Eddie Munson caught you. His surprisingly strong arms caught you by your waist, and his long fluffy hair which surprisingly smelt of kid's strawberry shampoo tickled your nose.
"God I am so sorry... I just love the breakfast club..."
Being this close to Eddie made your body feel all tingly again, and this time quite hot too. Your face must have felt hot to the touch, I mean you were kinda in a compromising position, practically sitting in between the metalhead's legs. You looked up into his eyes upside down, and they softened when you returned eye contact.
"Oh no, it's okay really... I should have been focusing it's just Mondays this place is usually deserted..."
Eddie wanted to keep you in his arms, but instead decided on doing the noble thing and help you to your feet. His arm brushes your lower back in an attempt to steady you, and he had to fight the urge to pull you into his arms. He didn't like to think of himself as soft but you, god you just had something over him.
"So you're a breakfast club fan?"
The wide grin that replaced his concerned stare made you imitate him. It was completely infectious, and in your opinion, completely adorable.
"Hell yeah angsty teenagers fighting social norms... it's ahead of its time I'm telling you..."
"I couldn't agree more... you could always stay and watch it with me? Your probably busy so no worries if you-"
"Sounds fun l/n..."
And so that's exactly what you did. Eddie was surprisingly quiet throughout the movie, for a guy who would yell at jocks in the cafeteria, he held a very calming energy. So calm in fact you were beginning to fall asleep, heavy eyelids closing. You soon lost control of your muscles, particularly the ones in your neck. Your heavy head fell onto eddies leather-clad shoulder.
Could you feel his heart trying to escape his rib cage? Could you feel his guitar string scarred fingers brush the hair from your eyes? He hoped not. Was this what love was? An uncontrollable almost animalistic urge to protect someone. Eddie was now sure you were what had been missing all of this time.
Both of you were so different. You were all soft smiles and good grades. Whereas he was an academic calamity who held a fantasy game club for freaks like him. The thought did cross his mind that you would be better off with someone like Steve, someone safer, someone you could maybe settle down with someday. I mean let's face it no one expected Eddie to be the settling down type.
Confession time, he secretly was. The thought of escaping Hawkins, moving into the city and getting a nice little apartment made his smile widen. It grew wider when the image of you there with him entered his mind. He was probably getting a little ahead of himself, but with you resting on him right now, it all just felt so domestic.
"You fell asleep on him? Did you drool on him?" Steve asked humming along to the tears for fears song that was playing in the car.
"No... God, I don't know I was too focused on trying to scramble away... I'm such an idiot I mean who does that? Who the hell falls asleep on a guy's shoulder at work of all places?"
Robin and Steve clearly found the entire thing hysterical, their giggling bouncing off the car doors. Luckily you were sat in the back so you kicked the back of their chairs and buried your face In the palms of your hands.
You felt like you had completely embarrassed yourself, just as you were beginning to accept the fact that you may have had just the teeniest tiniest slither of feelings for the resident head of the hellfire club, you pull some dumb shit. This had probably scared him off, and in the long run, that was a good thing right? I mean you'd never had a boyfriend or a crush why start now? Who needed hot guitarists with dreamy dark eyes and the cutest cheeks you just wanted to squeeze like a grandma seeing their grandchild-
"Steve she's spiralling again..." Robin muttered pulling you from your weirdly specific daydream.
"Guys I'm fine... really it's fine... it's okay like he'd ever like someone like me anyway? I mean... I'm not exactly anything special... or exciting..."
Steve stopped at a red light and turned to face you, pointing his finger in your face like a dad scolding their child.
"HEY! I will not listen to your self-deprecation bullshit l/n... if Eddie Munson is scared off by a bit of drool then he's clearly not good enough for you..."
You were being a tad dramatic, okay very dramatic, but all of this was dawning on you at once. These feelings were foreign, scary and worst of all real. Ironically you were now envying your old self, the one who didn't have a massive crush on Eddie Munson.
Two thoughts ran through Eddie's brain, one being god you looked so cute in that cardigan today, and two being he was about to finally get his revenge on the little shit that was Dustin Henderson. This would show him to never mess with Eddie Munson again, especially when it came to his quest to win you over.
Hellfire was due to start tonight, but Eddie had a little surprise for his curly-haired chum. Tapping his fingers on the table, members trickled in and by the time Dustin arrived Eddie was smirking like a madman. Now everyone else in hellfire was in on this little Roos, hiding behind curtains and desks ready to pounce at any given second.
"So Dustin... anything you want to say..."
Dustin's heart fell into his ass as he tiptoed forward, the room seemed darker than usual, his eyes trained on Eddie and Eddie alone.
"Uh... sorry?" He squeaked raising his hands in defeat. Before he knew it Dustin was surrounded. This revenge was as bad as it got.
"So dusty... I've been thinking and well... every castle needs its princess... boys what do you think?"
As they all stepped away Dustin stood there deadpan, a tiara on his head, lipstick painted on his lips and an old one of Erica's princess dresses thrown over his clothes. A bright flash led Dustin to widen his stare, a photo being taken of his abysmal yet somehow still adorable appearance. That was gonna end up in the school paper...
"You're the prettiest princess out there dusty..."
"Shut up Mike..."
