It was like any other Monday. Chin in palm, eyes on tv screen and tape in player. Work was a drag. At least today you had Steve and Robin here, but both of them were acting particularly strange. They kept avoiding your eye every time you'd ask them a question, it was as if they knew something you didn't. It was unsettling.

"C'mon guys, what's going on?"

You pushed them a bit further and both of them froze mid-way through unpacking a delivery. Instead of looking at you, they looked at each other almost as if they were communicating without words. Steve finally looked at you, his smile was weak and slightly crooked, and you could tell just by the thoughts behind his eyes that whatever he was about to say was going to be a lie.

"Oh uh... nothing... what makes you say that?"

Deadpan, your face was stoic, brows drawn in a line as you straightened your back. "Steve, you've always been the worst liar... what's happening? Have you arranged a surprise birthday party or something? You know it's not my birthday for like four months..."

They both nodded dumbly. Whatever was going on, these were probably the two worst people that could have been involved in this little secret. Robin fumbled under the tiniest amounts of pressure, spewing anything and everything that came to her head. Whereas Steve's words came across as confident but his face told a completely different story. You could read them like a book.

"Look just... shut up and watch the rocky horror picture show..."

With a roll of your eyes you conceded to Steve's demands and went back to watching Brad and Janet arrived at Frankfurt castle. Your mind soon drifted to Eddie, you'd bet he liked rocky horror. It was weird like him, scary, goofy and had awesome music. Maybe you'd get it for him as a gift, or was that too much? I mean you could call him your friend now, even though you wanted to say you were more...

A strange humming pulled your attention from your thoughts. At first, you had assumed it was the movie, but it couldn't be, it was only still mid-way through the time warp, it didn't make sense. You pulled your eyes from the screen, drawing them to Steve and Robin who were looking behind you with nervous grins.

As the humming grew louder you really tried to listen in, was that a... guitar? What was it playing? Your brain searched for the answer and when it clicked you immediately felt hot all over, surely not. No way was this happening. You were dreaming, right? Turning your head your suspicions were confirmed.

There he stood. Eddie Munson. An electric guitar hung around his body, a bouquet of red roses tucked underneath the instrument's strap. His grin was soft and shy and you wanted to kiss him and throw up all at the same time.

Hopelessly devoted to you.

He was playing a fucking grease song.

You could only stand in shock as he slowly strummed singing the tune goofily. This was so him. Dramatic and ridiculous, in any other situation, you would be cringing, crying with laughter. But he had your favourite flowers, and he was playing your favourite song from your favourite movie. This was like all of those rom coms you binged, the ones you'd cry to at night when you felt particularly lonely. Yet now it was happening to you, from the guy who had stolen your heart and any common sense.

The closer he drew the louder his soft singing got. Hah!! You were right about his singing voice. Gentle and shy, yet still he looked confident in his actions like he'd never been more sure of anything in his life. The boy you'd spent the last few months fantasising about like a thirteen-year-old girl was confessing his love for you, with a song no less.

Now here is when the doubt crept in, why you? Maybe he was looking at Robin or even Steve? Maybe you'd got it all wrong and you had done exactly what you feared, built up his affection in your head. What did a guy like Eddie Munson see in you anyway?

Yet for the first time, you let that doubt go. Your eyes looked right into his dark ones and you smiled, just like the dumb lovesick idiot you were.

I'm outta my head
Hopelessly devoted to you

He finished those last lyrics and Eddie was now standing right in front of you, just a half metre of desk separating you. Silence, just tense heavy breaths filled the air as you stared at each other.

"Um so... we have boxes to find out back..." Steve's voice cut through but you both didn't look away.

"Yeah we'll uh... leave you guys to it..."

And so they did. Another thirty seconds or so went by and Eddie wanted to drop dead. Did you hate it? I mean you were smiling but that could be bad right? You could so easily just laugh in his face, why would a freak like him think he had any kind of chance with a woman who was so Angel-like?

"So that was-"

"Look I'm sorry I-"

Speaking at the same time, you both burst into laughter. Giddy and petrified laughter. Eddie put his finger up to silence you, his hand reaching for the bouquet that was party crushed from his guitar strap, but the sentiment meant far more than the condition you'd received them in.

"Those are for you..."

"My favourites... thank you Eddie... not just for these but for all of that... I mean really nobody's ever... and I mean ever done anything like that for me before..."

Bashful was the only word that could describe you right now, the attention that often unsettled you made you feel nurtured and appreciated. Eddie made you feel that way. You regretted not noticing him before, listening to the cruel words people shouted at him, just listening and never fighting back. However, now you would fight, in fact, you'd do anything to prove to the whole world that Eddie Munson was the loveliest boy you'd ever known.

"Well... you're probably wondering why all of this..."

You merely nodded in reply, the emotion of this entire exchange starting to catch up with you as your eyes began to water.

"I uh... it's all a bit elaborate but uh... I was wondering if... shit god..."

"It's okay keep going..." you reassured him placing your hand on his forearm, rubbing gentle circles in an attempt to soothe him.

"I'm not usually like this... I can talk for hours and not even flinch but... shit y/n... you have this thing over me... and I just... I need you to know that I've never felt this before for anyone. You're so beautiful... and id love to... I'd love to take you to dinner sometime..."

Instead of answering verbally, you pushed up to sit on the countertop. Swivelling around so Eddie was standing between where your legs dangled, your hands found his hair, stroking lightly. They soon found his cheeks, the cheeks you'd thought about holding more than you'd care to admit. You crooned your neck until you were just a mere centimetre from his face, noses brushing and breaths mingling. With the most gentle of touches, your lips United. He tasted of cigarette smoke and chewing gum, he smelt of dusky cologne and leather. Bliss.

If he died right now, Eddie was convinced he wouldn't care. This was exactly what his life had been lacking, you were everything and more. An enigma, the complete definition of solace.

Parting for a moment Eddie breathed out a nervous laugh, it was high pitched and awkward but you didn't care. He was adorable. "So I'm assuming dinner is a go then..."

"Oh my god just kiss me again you nerd of course it's a yes..."
