Dustin Henderson was a little shit.
Actually, it would probably be easier if I went back to twenty-four hours prior. Just so you can understand why Dustin Henderson is a little shit.
The hellfire club were currently at lunch. A nice calm Friday afternoon, well for most. Eddies leg was bouncing as his eyes followed you across the room. Hair falling perfectly, eyes glittering and unfortunately laughing at something Steve Harrington said. Of course Steve Harrington, the man every woman wants. Rich family, normal job and decent social life. Why was he even here?
Eddie was everything Steve wasn't. Poor, unlikeable and hated by the majority of Hawkins. He couldn't help but let waves of jealousy wash over him. He wanted to be the one to make you laugh, not this George Michael wannabe.
"Eddie... why are you staring at Steve and y/n?"
Eddie turned his gaze onto Henderson his eyes narrowing, the kid knew. How the fuck did the kid know? I mean it was obvious he did. His eyes were creased and his lips were curved up just a little too much. Had he made his crush on you so obscenely obvious everyone knew? Did you know?
"Henderson... take a walk with me..."
Essentially grabbing Dustin by his collar, Eddie walked the boy outside, his steps coming to a stop when they were finally alone. Maybe he could use this to his advantage. I mean yeah he had a crush on you, but he still didn't know much about your interests, and since you worked at a video store, movies sounded like a good place to start.
"You know l/n right?"
"Yes... she's Steve's best friend... and therefore she's my friend too..."
"What's her favourite movie?"
Dustin's eyebrows raised as his suspicions were confirmed. The leader of the hellfire club had a crush on y/n l/n. Maybe he could have a little fun with this. I mean you had mentioned the other day how you despised the ending to that Steven Spielberg movie. Even going so far as to say "if I ever have to sit through the piece of garbage again, I will feed myself to the damn Demogorgon".
"Duel... you know 1971, by Steven Spielberg?"
"Yes... yes of course I know it, that's really her favourite movie? A murderous truck driver..."
Dustin held in his snort and simply nodded, deciding not to push his luck any further by asking too many questions. The bell rang out for next period and Dustin used that as his excuse to escape. For now anyway.
So now we're at present. Eddie had just waltzed into the video store. His palms grew sweaty as he watched you debate with your friends over which movie to play on the screen behind the tills. Steve wanted back to the future, but you wanted to watch Casablanca. So you were a romantic? Eddie mentally took note.
Approaching the desk Eddie tapped the surface, a coy grin forming as you turned to face him. He watched as you smiled in return, leaving your debate with Steve in order to speak with him. HAH.
Steve 0
Eddie 1"Hey, Eddie... looking for something?"
Yes your lips on mine
"Oh yeah, I'm looking for the movie uh... duel..."
Here it was. The moment you fell in love with him. The moment he watched you jump into his arms and scream at how much you love that movie too. But the thing was, that moment never came. A loud groan left your lips as you hid your head in your arms. This wasn't how this was supposed to go. Eddie watched as Steve and Robin burst into puddles of laughter.
"Picked the wrong person to buy that movie from dude..." Steve muttered his eyes shining in amusement.
"Sorry, Eddie I just... I hate this movie so much... the ending is... ughhh"
Eddies eyes widened. Dustin Henderson was a little shit. How the hell was he supposed to get out of this one now?
"Ah... yeah well my uncle is a bit of a red neck... trucks and stuff are his thing... I'm getting it for his birthday..."
Well saved. Eddie gave himself a mental pat on the back for that one, your relieved smile let himself breathe again.
"Oh sure... Robin, can you go find duel?" You called turning your attention back to Eddie.
For some reason, you were excited that he was here. I mean the leather jacket and matching pants he sported were probably selling his case in all fairness. Sure you'd never really had a crush before, but you could appreciate a hot guy when you saw one. And damn Eddie Munson was hot. It almost confused you, why was a guy this hot the target of everyone's jabs and insults? Sure he was eccentric, kind of weird, but who wasn't?
"Have you managed to finish Miss Benson's math homework yet?"
Not the most riveting chat up line but it would work.
"Nope... been slammed actually... with band practice and everything..."
You could only watch as Eddie stretched his arms up, his lithe form on show as his tight shirt clung to every angle of his body. Was he trying to show off to you? Surely not.
"Oh cool... what kinda music do you play? I'm assuming something loud..." The teasing must have worked since Eddie grinned and an unfamiliar tingle in your belly was present.
"Yeah metal mainly... rock too... just depends on wherever the wind takes the band's sound I guess..."
"Well can the wind take some money from your wallet because I've been holding this ready for you to pay for at least thirty seconds..."
Jeez, Robin was the ultimate cockblock. With a swift swat to Robin's arm, you gave an apologetic smile to Eddie before returning to your debate with Steve. Although now you didn't care too much about what movie you were gonna watch. Your eyes flitting back to Eddie any chance they got. You definitely noticed that the tingly feeling left as soon as he did.
