The story of "The Waldo Moment" from the Black Mirror series is about the animated actor would never get recognized and the audience would only recognize the animated doll instead of him.
The ugly truth even if the animated actor quit this job, he would never be missed or appreciated but he would be replaced by someone.
This is something similar to the career we're having. Right now everyone will appreciate you for everything you have done, but someday some mistake you have made would screw up everything and you'll be replaced immediately.
