After the disappointing trip to space. You and Steve sit on the steps outside of his apartment, drained from the past few weeks.. The stars in the night sky twinkled above you.
It's silent. Steve has barely spoke since you guys came back.
"Are you mad at me?", You decided to speak up. He had every right to be mad at you.
He shakes his head, avoiding looking at you. "No".
"Why don't you tell your face that.", you replied.
He sighs, "I just wished you hadn't had kept so much from us."
"Do you mean from you?", you corrected him. You knew from the start, Steve relies on trust. How can he trust you if you keep important things from him?
"I suppose", he admitted.
You stayed silent, not sure what to say.
"So, what powers did you keep secret?", he asks. Referring to the powers you used to have.
"Memory manipulation, mind reading, invisibility, more extreme versions of mental manipulation." you reply.
"What do you mean by, more extreme versions of mental manipulation?"
"Well, you already know I could cast my memories to you, that was one kind." You took a deep breath. "A more extreme version would be messing with your mind, make you see your deep and darkest fears. Nightmares you wouldn't want to become a reality"
You sensed he held his breath. He released it, "That doesn't sound good".
"It's not. That's why I have never used it." You reply, "Well atleast willingly, except for casting my memories which causes no harm to anyone."
"What about memory manipulation, what does that do?", he asks.
You look at him, "It does exactly what you think it does."
He chuckles, "Really? Reading my mind already?"
"Actually I'm not, I can just sense you already knew.", You look out onto the street.
"Why keep that power a secret then, seems kind of important."
You screw your eyebrows together slightly. "Can you try to imagine, having a power so strong, that can literally change someone's memories. Then having a mad titan, who can control you into using that power. Then finally being free and then having to live in fear that someone could do the same."
Steve sighed and looked down. "I'm sorry."
You just looked at him.
"I should have never made you feel like you had to tell me.", he added.
"It's okay Steve. I've known for a while you rely on trust, and me hiding things wasn't going to help that."
He smiles, "I've trusted you since the beginning, and I don't know why."
You laugh slightly and smile, "Must be my charming personality"
He looks at you, "Must be"
You laugh and shake your head.
"So how did you find out that you still had powers? Also what do you have left?" Steve asked, remembering you do have powers left.
"Well, you already know I have mind reading, but I also have memory manipulation."
"So, the not so fun ones.", he was slightly amused.
You roll your eyes and laugh slightly, "Unfortunately."
Steve looked at you.
"As for how I knew, when we were with Thanos. I could finally sense them. I guess being near him awoke them.", you added.
"Do you still have your immortality?"
"Trying to see if you can get rid of me Rogers?", you teased.
He chuckled. "Definitely not, just curious"
You nodded, "Yes, I still have my immortality"
"That's a good thing, right?"
You laugh, "Yes."
