Daichi barely had to think, protective instincts ingrained in his mind propelling him forward. There was no hesitation, or time to even contemplate how bad a decision this was, but when that swirling beast went for Suga, hands wrapped round his throat...
Yeah. He'd done the right thing.
He had rammed them both, tackling that monster off of the teacher, who had looked rather pale, hands shaking as he took a full breath. Suga had fallen to the ground, Daichi rolling, feeling weight against his stomach, propelling him off.
Daichi blocked a punch with his forearm, bringing his knee up under his attacker, using the added space to roll them both over, bringing Daichi on top. From there he tried to get a solid grip, but the monster grabbed his foot and arched, sliding through the added space to come up behind, latching onto Daichi's back.
No human should be able to do that. Daichi should have had him. But of course, he's ever been in a fight quite like this.
The monster wrapped thick, slimy arms around the policeman's neck, fighting his hold by the second. An effective chokehold that had Daichi gasping, trying to create some space for him to breathe.
Suga chose that moment to grab the monsters waist, vines coming up from his hand and pulling it back by the neck, he wrapped his arms round Daichi and hauled them both forwards, the monster squealing as it dissolved in the writhing shadows of the alley wall.
Suga sighed, slumping into Daichi as he tried to catch his breath. The latter seemed too stunned to speak.
"See? Told you. Not.. safe."
Daichi hauled them both up, hands roaming and he checked the teacher over for injuries. Suga grinned at him lopsidedly. "Come now, I'm fine. Promise. But I believe you are owed an explanation. Perhaps somewhere a little..." he sniffed, nose crinkling, "cleaner? Like oh, I don't know. The daycare?"
Daichi nodded automatically, turning towards the entrance, and walking with Suga out towards the light, the last rays of dusk nipping at their heels as they marched briskly through the streets of Tokyo, the mass of bodies providing a welcome shield from any other possible attacks.
Roughly ten minutes later the day-care came into view, cheery red bricks and pristine gardens acting like a beacon, calling them home. Suga wasted no time in opening the gate, rapping twice on the oak door before pushing it open to the red meeting room, Daichi taking it all in with wide eyes. Suga grunted as he guided Daichi into a chair, spinning on his heel towards the doors again.
He didn't get very far, as a hand clasped his. Holding tightly. Suga felt his brave facade melt. Just a little.
"Okay then sugar. I'll wait with you. the others should be out soon. I'm sure if nothing else, our rather dramatic entrance should have garnered someones attention." Suga sat down, patting his thighs as he started rambling. "Akaashi is out on his date with Bokuto you know, at least I think. Oikawa and Kenma should be here though. Haha, I hope Akaashi is having fun, he was really nervous about Bokuto but that he knows- well, you know too now I guess, it should be easier-"
Daichi made a garbled sound in the back of his throat, and pretty much collapsed into Suga. Melted, really. The teacher startled, jumping slightly as he automatically caught the officer, eyes wide in fear.
"Daichi? Dai? Sawamura I'm going to need you to stay with me okay? We're going somewhere safe." Daichi felt himself be pulled up, laid on the table as Suga swept out of his peripheral vision, a tangle of flowers and thorned vines. He reached out with just his pinky, but the blood was running fast now.
Very fast indeed.
There were voices that muffled, a dull thud, a sharp pain against his side. Hands against his face, those eyes again, quite close. Fluffy brown hair filled his senses as he was yanked against a chest, and quickly carried. A blinding light then...
Daichi opened his eyes.
Everything seemed to be in bright technicolour, shifting sands weaving through the air, illuminating the space. They tangled round his arms, brushed against his side. He could feel everything, his heart beating out of his chest, the individual hairs along his arms, the soft feel of breath against his neck.
Still laying? He couldn't be sure, something solid seemed to be below him, a shifting tide of delicate dust that shimmered golden in the dark space. A hand brushed his cheek and he couldn't resist looking to the side.
"Hello again."
Bright eyes watched him, a face awash in the glow. His face was almost transparent, swirls ingrained in his cheeks and along his neck and hands, patterns made by the constantly repositioned sands.
Daichi poked the side of his face and Oikawa raised a perfect eyebrow, moving above and infront of Daichi, who marvelled at the fact that his finger went partially through the teachers face, and was now decorated with a light sheen of gold.
"Afternoon Dai-chan. Or is it morning now? Would't know I have been dealing with this rather sticky situation all night."
Daichi winced at the tone, the teacher slowly alighting onto the floor, causing a little puff of sand. The oak timbers barely felt his presence, and he moved gracefully and quietly over to a bench on the far side of the room, littered with glinting apparatus and wicked-looking tools.
He wore a tight-fitting shirt, the cotton dusted like the rest of the room. His pants were loose, slits up either side and as he moved they bounced through the air. He was the closest thing Daichi would have ever seen to an Egyptian God, all golden sand, tight clothes and lithe body.
It was rather easy to watch and pay attention to him, especially as he was the only other one in the room, a magnetic presence. Oikawa started to organise his desk, going as far as to adjust every minute detail, getting the pencils just right. Once done, he waved his hand and flopped onto a leather couch that had practically come out of nowhere, watching Daichi out of the corner of his eye.
"Suga dragged you in here about a three hours ago, I sent him home after a while, once you stabilised. And before I forget..."
He whipped up, facing Daichi fully, eyes blazing in anger.
"What did you think you were doing?! That nightmare got Suga, now it has marked you, you were injured and Suga could focus on nothing else, pouring so much energy into your shitty stab wound he could barely heal himself!"
He was pointing now, and Daichi hissed as some stray dust stung his cheek.
"You are so unbelievably lucky I was here, and even more so that Suga bothered to catch you. Pull shit like that again and it's over for you, I swear."
Daichi grimaced, and nodded twice.
"I understand. And now I am fully prepared to listen to your story."
Oikawa nodded, relaxing back into the couch, eyes still trained on Daichi.
"Well now that is all well and good, if I were bothered to tell you anything now." Oikawa lay back on the couch, form flickering and dulling as the room darkened.
"Starting tomorrow Dai-chan, we'll give you and your associates a proper welcome."
