The air hummed with suppressed violence, Kenma raising a brow as he looked back and forth. Oikawa drummed his fingers along the wood of Kanoka's desk, glaring at Iwaizumi, who was sneering back at him.
The receptionist herself had run out to the back, trying to corral and comfort her frazzled pixies.
"Well, the others will be back soon. Mind explaining why there's more tension in here then between Bokuto and Akaashi on a good day?" Oikawa snorted, and stood. "Speaking of, where are our two guests?"
All eyes swung to Kenma.
"Ah, well Akaashi is talking to them both now. There is nothing to worry about." Oikawa raised an eyebrow. "Well to hurry up this little visit, I might as well go get them, so we can resume our earlier conversation." Iwaizumi stood.
"I'll come with you."
Oikawa's eyes glinted, and Iwaizumi felt slightly strange as that feral grin turned to him, canines practically bared. "No." He gulped, and sat back down as Oikawa swept out of the room, the bubble of tension following in his wake.
Suga puffed out his cheeks, plonking down into the chair, side-eying the two cops opposite him.
"He's rather intense."
Suga huffed a laugh, turning to face the other cop. "Yes Daichi, and now you're on his bad side. I'd watch out if I were you, he can be a realllll nightmare." Kenma sat next to him, throwing his legs on Suga's lap as he relaxed into the couch. "Understatement of the century."
Iwaizumi frowned at the tone. "Are you not all friends? Do you really shit talk each other like that?" He was rather disgruntled. He doesn't usually read relationships wrong. Suga piped up. "Oh no, don't get me wrong I would die for him. You won't find a closer group of friends on this side of the Pacific!" He went to hug Kenma, who lolled back and tried to melt out of the embrace.
Daichi laughed slightly as Suga pinched Kenma's side, resulting in him bolting up with a yowl. His eyes locked with Suga's, and for a second he had to remember how to breathe. Were his eyes always that colour? Could humans have eyes that colour? Is he still staring?
Uh, yeah.
Suga tilted his chin, smiling slightly. Kenma fake gagged at the blatant attraction, and Iwaizumi looked inclined to agree. "That, was disgusting. You two are banned from doing whatever that was for the rest of the visit." Kenma pointed at both of them in turn, and Suga pipped up helpfully. "Aww, Kenma, I believe the term you are looking for is undressing with your eyes, that is what you were doing, right Officer?" Daichi spluttered but didn't deny; causing Hajime to start laughing at the expense of his partner, holding his stomach as Daichi squawked, Suga throwing him a kiss.
Oikawa chose that moment to re-enter.
He surveyed the scene like a battlefield, trying to asses the damages to his troops. Bokuto followed behind him, Akaashi holding onto his arm, and Kuroo stumbling in behind them both, Akaashi yanking him by the shirt.
Iwaizumi and Daichi stood hurriedly, smoothing back their hair and trying and failing to get their shit together, especially as Suga was still play tackling Kenma on the couch, the latter flailing like a fish out of water.
Oikawa rallied every bit of sanity he had left, and with gargantuan effort restrained from a full-blown adult tantrum at the fact that his friends were being nice to the rude police officers, and weren't stressed at all! It simply wasn't acceptable, no, he wouldn't stand for it.
Even Akaashi who had just had the pleasure of making sure the two rogue officers stayed quiet looked rather pleased, hell he even had a date in an hour. Maybe that is why when he entered the room he followed it with a threatening wave of energy, putting the rest of the teachers immediately on edge. Even Kanoka abandoned her fairies to rush to the office, making sure no one was dead.
There was utter silence.
Akaashi looked away from Bokuto, who was practically vibrating with his suppressed secret. Kuroo looked rather rattled behind him, staring at Kenma who had sat up, pulling Suga with him. Maybe it was the tension, or the excitement of the day that made Kuroo blurt;
"That, was fucking awesome."
Oikawa whirled on him, eyes flashing with golden dust.
Akaashi face palmed aggressively and Bokuto slapped Kuroo out of shock.
"Dude."
Kanoka, harnessing the experience garnered by years of dealing with angry mothers, idiotic fathers and spoilt children stood; arms out wide. She smiled her brightest smile, and if the air pulsed with her candy-cane magic, then so what? The police officers wouldn't notice.
Akaashi dragged Bokuto away from a confused Kuroo, Kanoka uttering goodbyes and thanking the officers for their time, herding them skilfully towards the door. Oikawa shoved Kuroo with little remorse, lamenting the fact he hadn't been scarier when he'd threatened to maim them for revealing the day-cares secrets.
Suga brushed his fingers gently against Daichi's biceps, just enough to distract him into stumbling into Iwaizumi, the two falling outside. Akaashi shoved Bokuto out then made way for Kenma, who kicked the door closed, but not before shouting, "Come back tomorrow, same time yeah? I'm sure we would be happy to answer any questions then."
Kuroo pushed his hair back out of his face and grinned.
"It's a date."
