It's been a week since that night. Adriel couldn't remember what happened aside from him being in a place that he believes where the majestic creatures reside.

"Love?" Davin called out his attention. They are currently at the canteen.

"Adi," Carson shakes him which made him come back to his senses.

"Huh?" he asked confused.

"Kent has been calling you for quite some time now," Kai answered him.

His eyes turned to his fate. Davin's worried face welcomed his eyes.

"Are you okay?" Davin asked.

Adriel sighed before nodding. "Yeah. Sorry for spacing out," he smiled sadly.

"It's okay. Just don't wander too far," Davin replied, teasing a little. It made Adi and the rest chuckle.

Unknown POV

"Those kids seemed like they are just simple mages," the director said.

"Make sure of it. You don't want to face the wrath of his majesty," the other man said.

"Tobias is keeping an eye on them," the director assured.

"Good. By the way, how's Project X?" the mystery man asked.

The director smiled, "We got a willing test subject and he's not some ordinary student," the director said grinning.

"And who might that be?" the man queried.

"Adriel Mitchel," he answered.

"The favored one?" the man asked.

"Yes. Tobias managed to convince him," the director said.

The unknown man hummed rubbing his chin with his fingers. "Make sure that he will be useful to us. If Project X succeeds, we can use him to get Aotrom. Make him strong. He will be our ultimate weapon," the man said before leaving. He will relay this news to their majesty.

Another week had passed and this coming weekend is the first session for Adriel as a test subject. He was taken and briefed last Wednesday. The boys are acting like they have no idea about it. 

"Be careful there, love," Davin told his mate.

Adriel smiled, "I will. Don't worry about me," he answered. Davin nodded though he was still worried deep inside. 

"Are you sure this is the only way, Adi?" Kai asked his friend.

"There is another way, but this is the best way as of now," he answered.

Kai and Carson glanced at each other. Worry is visible on their faces. Adriel sighed and smiled at them...

"Guys, don't worry. I got this. Whatever that serum is, it will not affect me," he assured them.

"Will it not affect your cover? I mean, if you show that kind of reaction?" Ryder asked.

"It will not. Surely, my body will show a reaction, but it will not hurt me. I know that goddess Selene will protect me," he answered.

That calms his friends. They bid goodbye for it is time for Adriel to go and meet Tobias. They made a little show for the spies that were lurking around their shared house.

Adriel looked anxious as they arrived at the secret facility, and Tobias is pleased with how convincing the young prince on the eyes of the enemies.

"Ah, Mr. Mitchel, you're here!" the director greeted. 

Adriel faked a shocked face upon seeing him. He then turned to Tobias in confusion. 

"He's one of us," Tobias said making Adriel nod. 

"Good to see you, Sir," Adi offered a handshake and the director gladly accepted it.

With that, Adriel saw in the elder's mind that the room they are in has a blocker. But, as someone like him who is special, this blocker can't stop his mana. He smirked in his mind. Though he also figured out that the director also does not know the leader's true identity. 

"Is the other coming?" Tobias asked.

"Not yet. They will come when the subject is in the mid-process. We will only do a recording for this one. As this is the first trial, we will see how his body will react first and we will base our next move then," the director answered.

Tobias clapped his hands once and grabs Adriel's shoulder. "Ready to get stronger?" he asked and Adi mumbled a yes. They headed to a different room with different apparatus. They made him sit on the reclining chair and starts strapping him.

"I know you were informed about this project, but let me enlighten you more," the director said. Tobias smirked in his head.

"Yeah, spill the plan," he thought and as Adi can read his mind, he's also grinning inside. Though, he's not intruding on the director's mind. He wanted the latter to spill everything he knows with his mouth. He will just check if he's lying or if he is omitting some information.

"You see, we want equality. We don't want discrimination among us. That is why we are doing this Project X. This project will help those who are weaker to gain more strength that will help to boost their confidence. We believe that there shouldn't be weaker or stronger. Everyone must be equal. I believe you understand that because you accepted this offer?" he asked.

Adriel nodded, "I do. But, sir, if I may ask, this project's purpose is to help others, why didn't you propose this to our kings and queens? I'm sure they will agree if it is for the sake of their people," he said.

The director chuckled. "You are young, Mitchel. Those monarchs are nothing but greedy," he said.

Adriel is keeping his cool. He doesn't want to blow the whole place up. Not yet. The director smirked at him.

"Ah, right~ You are Aotrom's favorite. Well, sorry but I am telling the truth. Those rulers are greedy for power. They only want what's good for them. And I'm sure you realized that that's why you are here, am I right? It might hurt your feelings but, I'm sure you're just a toy for the Queen," he said smirking.

Instead of getting angry, Adriel sports a sad and hurt look. It wasn't the reaction that the director is expecting. Honestly, he still has doubts about why Adriel accepted this. But seeing his face, he fell into the young prince's plan without him knowing.

"I want to be known for my abilities not because I am favored by the Queen," Adriel said sadly.

"And you will. This is the start, Mitchel. Once the procedure is completed, I am sure that your name will be known as a strong mage and not because the Queen favored you," the director said.

Adriel smiled with a hint of evilness and it was pleasing to his enemy. The director thought that they got the perfect puppet for their plan, but this puppet will be the one to destroy all of them when the right time comes.
