The Road Ahead

Today was Josie's last day working at the hospital.

With her pregnancy about to end and her move to New Orleans coming up she felt it was time to go on her maternity leave.

Which she wasn't too happy about because unlike other people, Josie did genuinely enjoy her job.

"Multiple car pile-up free as many beds as you can" a nurse yelled as she was getting updates on the crash through the hospital phone.

Josie put on some gloves and her mask as an EMT wheeled several people in.

In those several people, Josie saw a familiar head of curly hair.

"Landon?" Josie said as she took his gurney and pushed it into a spot in the ER.

"Jo? you work at the hospital?"

"Yeah I do- what happened?" she said as she looked at the cuts and blood all over the man's body.

"I was just driving down the street when this person pushed on their breaks for no reason I almost went out of my windshield," he said.

"Well lucky for you I'm pretty good at my job" Josie smiled as she put pressure on the boy's ribs to make sure he didn't break any bones.

"Well nothing is broken luckily but you are definitely going to need some stitches."

"Yay me" Landon laughed.

"Don't worry I'll numb it" she said as she grabbed some of the supplies from the drawer.

Josie then grabbed a needle and slowly put it in the wound releasing the numbing medicine.

She then grabbed the stitches and slowly started to stitch the man's wound.

Landon watched the girl with a smile on his face "you're cute when you're focused."

"That's not very appropriate to say to your doctor Mr.Kirby" Josie smirked.

"Hm maybe not but i couldn't help myself" he shrugged.

She playfully hit his shoulder before finishing up his stitches.

"Go out with me" he blurted.

Josie raised an eyebrow at him before putting a bandage over his stitches "once again you are my patient" she laughed "it isn't appropriate."

"Well then i would like to request discharge forms please" he smiled.

"You're never gonna stop are you?" she shook her head.

"Not until you go out with me."

As Josie was about to respond she turned her head seeing Hope being pushed into the ER on a gurney.

"I- I have to go" Josie said standing up ignoring landon trying to call her back over.

"What the hell happened??" Josie said grabbing Hope's chart off the bed and looking at it.

"She was involved in the car crash on highway 95 we found her, in her car it had been flipped and she was unconscious at the scene" the EMT explained.

The auburn girl had her eyes closed but was mumbling something.

"I've got her Josie you can't help with her you know that" her coworker Jade said taking Hope's file and immediately taking the girl for a CAT scan.

Josie ended up taking the rest of the day off and waited in the waiting room for news on the auburn.

It had been a few hours and they still haven't given her anything so she was left worrying if the girl was okay.

"Josie??" a voice called out and she looked up to see Maya.

"Maya" Josie said standing up.

The curly haired girl brought her into a hug "is she okay?" she said pulling back.

"I don't know the doctors didn't come out yet" she sighed.

As they where about to sit down a man in a white coat came out "are you two related to Hope Mikaelson?"

"Uh-" Josie looked to Maya.

"Girlfriend" she pointed to herself "baby mama" she gestured to Josie.

"Okay... well Ms.Mikaelson had a little bit of internal bleeding which we fixed.. and she had a broken wrist."

"Oh thankgod" Maya sighed in relief.

"Can we see her?" Josie asked desperately.

"Of course they just set her up in a room she should wake up anytime now" he said leading them back into Hope's room.

When they walked in they saw the girl laying there with a cast on her arm.

They both walked up to the girl and saw her making faces in her sleep.

"Shoot i've got to use the bathroom if she wakes up tell her i'll be right back" Josie said as she went into the bathroom.

Maya sat down next to the girl and just listened as the girl was mumbling something that the girl couldn't quite understand.

"Hope... baby what did you say?" Maya stood up and taking Hope's hand.

"Josie... i love you" she heard the girl mumbled before she went back to sleep.

Maya's eyebrows furrowed together as
she stared at the girl.

"Did she wake up?"

Mayas gaze turned towards Josie who was leaning against the doorframe.

"Uh... no..." she looked back to Hope.
