When Hope walked into Maya's apartment she found the girl sitting on the couch.

"Hey," Hope said setting down her coat.

"Hi," Maya said as she nervously twisted the ring on her finger.

"Is something wrong?" Hope raised her eyebrow.

"I kinda wanted to talk to you."

"Okay... about what?" Hope said sitting next to her.

"I think... we should break up" she blurted out.

Hope just sat there in silence.

"Did I do something?" the auburn asked confused.

"No... well- yes? you were high on painkillers or something..." Maya shook her head.

"So it's my fault?"

"I know you're in love with Josie" Maya sighed.

"W-What" Hope stammered.

"It's okay Hope... it is" Maya assured her "you can't help who you love... and I'm not going to get mad at you for it."

Hope just looked down at her hands.

"So... uh that's it? we're just gonna end this?"

"We have to... your heart belongs to someone else..."

"I'm sorry Maya... I do genuinely like you..."

"But you don't love me" Maya sadly smiled as her eyes got glassy.

Hope pulled her into a hug.

"It's fine really," she said into the crook of the girl's neck "it hurts I'm not going to lie but if you're happy then I'm happy okay?"

"You're amazing Maya Machado, did you know that?"

"I've been told" Maya smiled smugly.

"You're back early," Josie said as Hope walked back into the room.

"Yeah we just had a quick conversation," Hope said as she looked down at the twins
who were both swaddled up and sleeping.

"Everything okay?" Josie asked as she took a sip of her water.

"Yes?"

Josie raised her eyebrow.

"We broke up" Hope sighed.

"Was it because of the move to New Orleans?"

Hope didn't want to lie to the brunette but she didn't want to tell her the real reason not yet at least "uh... yeah she wasn't into the whole long distance thing I guess."

"Aw I'm sorry," Josie said opening her arms.

Hope immediately laid in the hospital bed and let the brunette hold her.

"It's okay it's for the best" Hope murmured.

"Well..." Josie started.

Hope looked up and made eye contact with the brunette.

"If it helps you are the most amazing person I have ever met... and she is really missing out," she said and they both smiled at each other.

Hope stared at the brunette before her eyes trailed to her lips.

Josie glanced down at Hope's lips before looking back into her eyes.

They were both suddenly knocked out of their trance when they heard one of the babies cry.

"I got him" Hope cleared her throat and walked over to the boys before picking up Ellis.

Hope held him close to her chest and slowly swayed with him.

Josie just laid back and watched the scene with a smile on her face.
