Yasmina walked around Sammy's ranch to clear her head after another nightmare. The sounds of the animals helped her clear her head but one sound made her stop in her tracks. it was a howl raw and pained and brought back terrible memories.
As soon as the howl faded she saw a young wolf in front of her it was a pale white in the light of the full moon, its head still held back as if frozen in time. Yasmina took that time and turned and ran away from the wolf before it was too late. As she ran, she felt like she was being followed and heard growls and barks, but she didn't look back until she saw the porch light she ran into the farmhouse, shaken but okay. She crept into the bedroom she shared with her girlfriend but Sammy wasn't there. Instead, it was the same wolf she had seen just a few moments before. The athlete thought the worst had happened to her, but the wolf whimpered as it took in the fear on the girl's face. The athlete saw a glint of something familiar in the wolf's eyes "Sammy?" the athlete whispered as she saw the wolf nod as it walked closer and sat just a few feet away from her looking out the window at the moon as it set and the sun rose.
As the sun crested the trees, Sammy growled again, but this time it was in pain as she transformed into her human form. Pale fur receded into tan skin, and muscles rippled like a stone thrown into a lake, but the gasps for air and the snapping of bone made Yasmina gag as she saw the pain as Sammy's transformation started to end.
As it ended Sammy looked up at her before collapsing onto the floor.
