A Night To Remember

Chapter 12: Angela

I got so scared when Kiauna handed me a phone. So, I came up with an excuse.

"He's probably busy. He probably won't even pick up the phone."
"Really? " Kiauna replied.

She put the phone back on the table. And got back to work. So did I . After my shift was over, I drove Kiauna home. During the ride, Kiauna kept asking me to call Laurent. I finally gave in. I called Laurent and put my phone on speaker.

"Hello, this is Laurent b."
"Oh my god! " Kiauna shouted.

I quickly told kiauna to shut up.

"Hey its angela. How are you? "
"Hey girl, I'm glad you called. "
"I'm glad you picked up." I replied.
"Is someone else with you?" Laurent asked.
"Yes, my best friend Kiauna. Say hi."
"Hi, Kiauna. " Laurent replied.

I chuckled at Laurent making Kiauna blush. I was still trying to wrap my mind around the fact I was actually talking to a celebrity. Nothing like this has ever happened to me. Almost too good to be true.

"I don't understand why you gave me your number? " I questioned.
"Girl! Don't be questioning him! " Kiauna said.
"It's alright. I wanted to invite you and Kiauna to my birthday party on Saturday. " Laurent answered.
"Oh my god. Are you serious? " I asked.
"Hell yeah, we going. " Kiauna shouted.
"Great I'll text you my address. And remember, this is an invite only party. I just got home. So, I'll chat with you later. " Laurent mentioned.
"Okay, bye. " I said and hung up the phone.

Kiauna and I were so happy. I dropped Kiauna off at her apartment complex in east LA. We made arrangements to pick her up on Saturday. Then I drove home. When I got home, Terrance was sitting on the stairs. I pulled up in the driveway and rolled my eyes. I walked up to him and said,

"What you doing outside? "
"Waiting on you. We need to talk. " Terrance said in a low voice.
"Terrance, I had a long day at work. I don't have time for this. "
"Please. " Terrance begged.

I unlocked the door and let him in. We sat down in the living room. There was an awkward moment of silence between us.

"Well, you said you wanted to talked. " I said.
"I realized that things have been different for us. And I've been more preoccupied with my job and I'm not giving you the time you want. And for that I am sorry. I love you. I really do. " Terrance said with a sad face.

"You gotta change. I'm tired of the lonely nights. I have to remind myself I'm in a relationship. Do you know how that makes me feel?" I became mad and raised my voice.
"Calm down." Terrance said and stepped to me.
"No, you calm down!" I shouted.

And that's when the unexpected happened. Terrance shoved me into the wall and growled,

"I said calm down. Look, I'm sorry babe. I love you so much. I'm scared of losing you."
"I love you too." I said as my eyes filled with water.

Terrance held me tight and kissed my neck.

"You hungry? I warmed up the left overs." Terrance asked.
"Sure, I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'll meet you in the kitchen." I replied and went to the bathroom.

I took a long stare in the mirror and wiped my tears. When I threw some tissue in the trash, I saw something shiny. It was a condom wrapper. I covered my mouth in shock. I wanted to cry again. But my anger began to take over. I put the condom wrapper in my purse. I had to figure out what to do. I took the covers off my bed, made a pad on the floor and slept on the covers. A few hours later, I woke up to the sound of a door closing. I glanced at the bed to find Terrance wasn't there. I walked to the window facing the front of the house. I saw Terrance getting into his jade green Cadillac el Dorado and drove off.

" Why are you doing this to me?" I thought to myself.
