Chapter 15: Laurent

I thought it was a secret Larry wanted to tell for him to want me to ride with him. Just like old times. But knowing him as well as I do, Larry never did something for nothing.

"Hey man, I gotta ask you something." Larry said and glanced at me with a straight face.
"Please don't get serious on me and confess something." I whined.
"Nah, it's not that. I've noticed a change in you ever since we met Angela. And. ..I'm wondering how far are you going to go for her?" Larry explained.
"I don't get it." I said with wondering eyes.
"I mean, I know you like her. So, what are you going to do about that? " Larry asked.
"I'm still trying to figure that out. I want her. I just gotta find out what's holding her back." I mentioned.
"What you mean holding back?" Larry asked.
"I asked her why she came to us. She wouldn't tell me." I replied.
"I know how to get the truth. Get her drunk. She'll be more open than a book. " Larry said and we laughed.

When we got to the barbershop, we continued to talk about Angela and plans for the party. It felt so good to have my twisties done, again. There like dreads but not permanent. We were excited for the party. After our hair was done, we went back home. Angela greeted us at the door. She made me feel like royalty. She complemented on our hair. Then she headed for the door. I caught her by the hand and asked,

"Whoa, whoa, where you going? "
"I gotta go pick up Kiauna. " Angela replied.
"Who?" Larry and I asked at the same time.
"She's my best friend. You guys will love her. She's so much fun. I'll see you guys later." Angela quickly replied and made another attempt to leave.
"You're not even dressed. " Larry mentioned.

Angela was wearing pajama pants and shirt.

"Nah, really? I will when I bring her over." Angela sarcastically replied and left the house. I chuckled.
