Third Person's POV
It's raining.
Hard.
Sheets of stinging wet bullets slice through the hot summer air like it's nothing, and the low, ominous growl of thunder could be heard somewhere in the black distance. The sky is dark, the angry black clouds washing it even darker, cutting off the silvery gleam of the moon and the stars. Thankfully, buzzing warm street lamps illuminate the way down the empty road, making the pelting droplets shimmer orange underneath the light.
"Shit" Taehyung murmurs under his breath.
He and Jungkook had decided to go out for a late-night grocery run, and being the stupid, stupid idiots they are, they forgot to check the weather. How would Taehyung know it would eventually be raining cats and dogs? It had been a perfectly sunny and clear day, they even had a water fight this afternoon and Jungkook asked Taehyung to stay the night because he was going to be alone.
But now, here they are, stranded outside the glowing yellow windows of the convenience store, standing dumbfounded on the porch and wondering how on earth they'd get back to Jungkook's house without being soaked through to their skins.
There were no buses run at stupid o'clock, they had no options whatsoever. They could wait it out- but who knows how long it could take for the rain to pass over? Neither of them had the patience to stay here- especially at this ungodly hour of the night.
"Crap" Jungkook whispers back from beside him.
Taehyung glances down at him to the sight of Jungkook's bambi eyes shimmering brightly even in the dark, juxtaposing his silent curse. A wobbly smile is being fought against from growing across his cheeks that are flushing a rosy red. He looks stupidly cute.
"What is it? You wanna get soaked or something?" Taehyung asks.
"Huh?" Jungkook breathes, craning his neck to stare right back at Taehyung, then back to the downpour just metres beyond them.
Puddles are forming and teeny little splashes litter them chaotically, sending ripples coursing throughout the murky water. Eventually, Jungkook nods slowly, the crimson on his cheeks gradually growing darker.
"Yeah, I do- but what about the food we bought? I don't want it getting all soggy"
Taehyung blinked owlishly at Jungkook- had he gone mad? Both of them are aware that Jungkook's prone to getting fevers. But he looks so goddamn hopeful at this moment, Taehyung can practically see tiny stars shining around his head and eyes. Taehyung drags his eyes away from Jungkook and instead stares down at the plastic bag hanging in his hand. What about the food? Jungkook surely doesn't expect him to go charging about in the torrential downpour too, did he?
Taehyung doesn't necessarily mind the rain, it's just the cold, desolate memories that often linger with the pitter-pattering against the ground or bedroom window that triggers a sad pang in his chest.
