The lights of the city were coming on to appease the absence of light. Sometimes distant conversations reached Kill-A's ears, carried by the tireless wind that blew through the city every day, reminding Kill-A of the life he had lived as Kia. It had been a peaceful and happy life, together with his friend Blan, lost in a beautiful meadow that stretched as far as the eye could see. At times she longed for it, for the simplicity, for not having to be tied to an implacable destiny, but she always repeated to herself that those were the cards she had been dealt, and now she had to play her part.
Gradually the light faded until the blue sky became a black blanket decorated with thousands of stars. He had dragged his bed from a rickety building nearby, the legs had been damaged in the process and it was slightly limp, so he used a small stone to balance it. In addition to the deplorable state of the wood, the sheets were caked with dust, produced by the calamitous earthquake. Kill-A didn't bother to make the bed, she simply lay in it looking up at the sky, unsuccessfully trying to reconcile with herself until she fell asleep exhausted from the fight.
And that night was no different, because the wind blew as tirelessly, the sky looked just as beautiful and her bed showed the same unattended aspect as always, and in the same way, she lay in it, trying to find out who she was, what she should do, trying to forgive herself for the death of her family, but that fight would never end, because the greatest enemy of oneself... is one's own self. Finally, Kill-A fell asleep and Kill-B slowed down the systems for the night.
However, a small distortion contrasted with the tranquility in the air, a shadow slowly and cautiously approached the awakening room, moving to the sound of the wind to hide the sound of its footsteps. As the shadow approached the room, it became clearer, because the light was able to better delve into its silhouette, they were three people, hidden under a black robe that made their discernment even more complicated.
The three unidentified men were at the door of the ominous room, before proceeding they decided to analyze the scene in greater detail, Kill-A was sleeping tormented by her demons and the eyes of the huge statue seemed to have gone out in order to rest, it was undoubtedly the perfect night for them. One of them nodded to the rest, it was time to act.
Cautiously, but firmly, one of the men grabbed the bed support from the left side, the other two unfolded a comfortable stretcher-like cloth or hammock. The fabric managers gave the go-ahead and the remaining man slowly tilted the bed, gently Kill-A slid down until she ended up lying on the stretcher. Kill-B was still off and oblivious to what was going on, Kill-A was also still sleeping oblivious to her kidnappers.
The man who had already released the bed set out to lead the others down the steep path that awaited them beyond the awakening room, for once they had passed the wasteland produced by Kill-A, their mission was successfully completed.
-----------------------------------------------
"Pst, pst, are you awake?" a whisper caused Kill-A to slowly open her eyes, the first thing she saw was a concrete ceiling, as her senses awakened she realized she was not in the awakening room.
He was in a small metal cell, placed in the center of a concrete room, the dim light of an oil lamp hanging from the ceiling was the only source of illumination, a bathroom and a small desk were the only furniture that made up the room. Kill-A sat up in increasing distress at the event.
At the door of the cell stood a dark-skinned, brown-eyed boy, who looked at Kill-A waiting for her to clear her head. Without a second thought Kill-A made a sweeping gesture with his arm with the intention of smashing the bars of the cage, but to his surprise that didn't work, he repeated the same procedure over and over again without any success, he slowly panicked as his tattoos didn't light up and he couldn't make use of his powers.
