Chapter 7

                                 Doubts

It’s been three days since that unexpected confession had happened. At sa loob ng tatlong araw na yun, napapansin niya din ang pag iwas sa kanya nang babae. Daffodil has been acting so distant and cold yet professional when it comes to their recovery sessions. Nag sasalita lang ito kapag tinatanong siya ng mga importanteng bagay, other than that, she never bother to answer him and it’s making him go crazy. Hindi niya tuloy alam kong paano kausapin ang babae tungkol sa mga bagay na walang kinalaman sa pag papagaling niya.

“Be my girlfriend, Daffodil”, tanong niya dito. Agad na tigilan ang babae pero nag patuloy parin siya. “I know that it’s all too sudden but what can I do? I’ve been dying to see you once and for all and I can’t just let this perfect timing to slip and go back to the very beginning”, he said. Maya maya pay nararamdaman niya ang pag layo sa kanya nang babae at dali dali itong tumayo at tumalikod sa kanya.

“To be honest, I really don’t know what to say to you Eric, it’s all too sudden for me to enter such relationship with a stranger like you”, she finally said that. “We’re not strangers Daffodil, we’ve known each other for so long”, pag tutol niya sa babae. “Yes, we do know each other from childhood till now but you have to know that we became strangers the moment you left without telling me, and the worst thing is that you left on the very crucial moment of my life. I’m not asking you to tell me where have you been all this years. You have a life and decision on your own and I’m not taking that away from you. Yes, it’s true that even until now, we manage to recognize each other after so many years, yet we became strangers after missing a lot of happenings on each of our journey back then. You don’t know what I have been through, Eric. You don’t know how hard it is to live a life where nothing resides in your heart but hatred and resentment to fate”.

Mahabang paliwanag ni Daffodil habang tumutulo ang mga luha. “I missed so many things about you over the past years and here you are coming back to be my personal doctor and act as if nothing had happened! You were even bold to enough to make a move. Does that mean you’re used to this kind of thing?”, she asked.

“Then if you do, spare me Doctor, you know how inappropriate in your profession to have personal attachment to your patients”, pagpapatuloy niya habang pinupunasan ang luha. “Don’t talk to me unless it’s not important, and you know what I mean about ‘important’. I believe your not dumb not to know that. Excuse me.”

Sabi niya at iniwan ang lalaking naka tulala habang naka tingin sa likod niyang papalayo. He know that he will be rejected but still he tried his luck after all. He was completely surprised with what Daffodil had said.

He never receives any answers to his proposal from her, and he was even surprised to hear expressing herself with tears falling down her eyes.

‘Arhhhgggg?!!! , your a jerk a Eric!’ Kastigo niya sa sarili. ‘She’s right. I shouldn’t have done that hastily, he said to himself. With all those thoughts in mind, he decided to take it slow, he will never give up. He promise to himself that he will make it up to her, and that will start by helping her going back to old self. Alam niyang mahirap pero kakayanin niya, the time has come that he has been waiting for so long and he can’t just back down. Bahala na kong ano ang mapapala niya basta ang importante, mabibigyan nang hustisya ang nangyari sa pamilya ni Clavia.

He pick up the phone and dial a certain number. “Hello, I do have a favor to ask, Edgar. Please investigate something for me”. Bungad niya sa kausap. “At last, tumwag ka na rin sa’kin para mag pa imbestiga, tell me, is it about your ‘special friend’?” Tudyu nang kausap. “Tsk, wag mo nga akong pangunahan. Basta gawin mo nalang. Babayaran naman kita, pero wag mong abusuhin ang pera ko dahil hindi sapat ang ipon ko”.

Asik niya kay Edgar na tinawanan lng cya pag katapos. Alam nang kaibigan niya kong ano ang ibig sabihin niya at kong para saan ang ipong pera nito. “Oo na, kahit wag munang bayaran basta ako ang bestman sa kasal mo!”, biro niya dito. “Tsk! Loko!!, malayo payan, kailangan kong mag umpisa sa una”, sabi niya sa kausap. “O, basta, wag kang mag padalos dalos. Alalahanin mo ang kalagayan niya”.

Payo ni Edgar sa kanya. “Oo na alam ko yan, hindi mo na kailangan pang payuhan ako, sige na patayin ko ang tawag nato. Mag luluto pa ako nang tanghalian namin”, and right after he said that, he ends the call without letting his friend saying goodbye.

“I think I have to take slow for me to get her trust”, he muttered to himself.
