IF YOU WERE TO ASK Olivia Aloha Harrington what she was afraid of, she would answer with the simple one word of nothing. This was true. Olivia was taught how to defend herself, how to be skilful with her attacks. She was not scared of death, she ignored the evil in people and saw the good in them, she claimed that they weren't born that way, they were made that way and she was in fact, correct.
Olivia was a kind hearted girl, innocent and sweet, she put herself before others but when it came to her brother, friends, family, she would become something to be scared of. She would beat up anyone who put shame onto her friends, her family and friends. No one knew she did this as the people she beat up would be made to blame someone else instead of her, she was smart, knew how to get away with things easily.
She wasn't always sweet and kind, tho, if people annoyed her, it would be a whole other story. She knew her place. She knew her worth. She made her own decisions. She was her own person, not a boy's, not anyone's, she was her own person.
Olivia did not have a good home life, her father was hardly ever around, he was always out on business trips in other states and continents. Olivia did not have a close relationship with her father, he would buy her expensive gifts, send her post-cards and cards for her birthday, stuffed with a check too buy herself something nice, she put the money towards bills and food, but all she really wanted was him. He wasn't abusive or anything, he was a very nice father, he was just never around.
Her mother left them when she was 5 years old, she disappeared one night with some of their valuable items and a lot of the money that was kept for emergencies in different places. She came back 3 years later, Olivia's father was gone and Steve was left to take care of her, their mother tried to take Olivia with her with her new husband, Olivia and Steve's step-dad, and Steve had to fight them off. After that he promised Olivia as soon as he turned 18, he would adopt her so she would be his and there was no chance that their parents could take her away. Their mother came back another 3 times, trying to take Olivia but Steve fought her off all of those times, luckily one time their father was there and helped Steve protect Olivia which they were forever grateful for.
She had few friends but was well known through out the school, she wasn't popular because she chose to not be that way, she had the reputation of Steve Harringtons little sister and a lot of people attempted to ask her too their parents house for dinner or buy her lunch, she always declined. The friends she did have where her bestfriends.
She was closest with Will Byers, they were 8 months apart in age. Olivia was the oldest in the group, she was already 13 as the others where still 12. Her birthday was September 8th, so she just missed grade 8 by 2 days but she didn't really care. Olivia and Will have been friends for a very long time, basically since they were 1 years old, when Olivia's mother was about their mothers were bestfriends, so naturally they grew up as bestfriends, almost siblings. The Byers family basically became Olivia's second family and she spent a lot of time there. Olivia and Will had no secrets and told each other everything.
