✰Omoide no yokocho✰ episode #13 transcript — excerpt 〚April 2, 2018〛
SATORU: There's something really weird about how we're doing this like a radio show.
SUGURU: We should have gone to that radio broadcasting club last year. And maybe stopped making the podcast.
SATORU: Is that how much you hate this podcast? [laughs]
SUGURU: I mean I wouldn't have agreed to this if I did.
SATORU: There you have it folks, Getou Suguru still hasn't removed the stick up his ass.
SUGURU: Shut up.
SATORU: Exhibit A.
[There are muffled sounds of Satoru being hit.]
SUGURU: We are terribly sorry for that.
SATORU: No we're not.
SUGURU: [starts laughing]
SATORU: [also laughing] Why are you laughing?
SUGURU: [very obviously trying to stop laughing] Nothing. So someone asked us—
SATORU: N-not even a segue into the thing? [laughing in the background]
SUGURU: Stop, no really, stop—
SATORU: OKAY, so someone asked us this—
SUGURU: Through our email! Now that is new.
SATORU: Yeah, our email's been dead for like, ever. So thank you!
SUGURU: Yes, thank you so much.
SATORU: Actually, it's not a question. It's like...a whole letter.
SUGURU: Let's hear it.
SATORU: Okay. It goes, hey, I haven't really asked you guys in a long time—oh, you've asked us before?—but I'm moving out and living independently. While I want to ask about how to do that, I also have an issue with the person I'm leaving behind. Oh, I thought it was like, your mom or something.
SUGURU: Yeah, me too. Are you secretly married?
SATORU: We've been housemates for quite a long time now, and honestly I wouldn't know how to navigate the world without them. I don't have much experience with living alone, and I basically just barged into their house a few years back, and it's been like that ever since. However, at some point I started catching feelings for them—Oh shit!
SUGURU: Damn.
SATORU: I never told them though. And I haven't told them yet about my plan to move out, but I feel like I should—
SUGURU: Yeah, you should. Can't be pulling a Gone Girl on your good housemate.
SATORU: Are we even sure they're a girl?
SUGURU: The plot is what I'm referencing.
SATORU: Oh. I've never seen Gone Girl.
SUGURU: What?
SATORU: Yeah, but anyway, moving on—
SUGURU: I don't think having that many transitional words is allowed.
SATORU: What are you, a cop? I'm kicking you out of this podcast right now.
SUGURU: Get on with it.
SATORU: Ask nicely.
SUGURU: [monotone] Get on with it, please, with a cherry on top.
SATORU: And here I thought you weren't capable of saying that. [clears throat] I feel like I should. Not only for practical purposes, but it's also to get everything off my chest. I've been noticing lately that they might have taken a liking to me, too, but I don't know if that's just my imagination. I can't ask my friends, though, because my housemate's a part of my friend group. It would be weird, I think, and I don't want them to know about it. I'm also okay with just not telling them anything because that's how it's been since...ever. That's about it for the housemate part. As a P.S., I wanted to ask about what apartments you could suggest for a single person with a side job income. I don't have a full-time job yet because I'm still in college, but I'll be graduating soon. Are there procedures for getting that? Do I call agents? Thanks, and all the best for you!
