"You were correct. That child wronged Anastacia. It was only right to teach him a lesson." Something about these events were off. There was a difference; It wasn't me being the one beaten up this time, it was Rowan. But I was certain of this for sure, 'It's still the same person!'

I was right not to trust him. Regardless of how different things are going, this person it still, without a trickle of doubt, the same. 'His cruel and shameless nature is still present.'

It's not surprising though. It wasn't like there was a massive changed that occurred for him to be any different. The only unusual thing here, was the unfamiliar occurrences that are happening.

And... the reason was definitely because of me. In contrast to how I was in the past; I would usually stay in my room while trying to be quiet as if I was dead. But now, I'm even going as far as to cause trouble, and blatantly lie to others.

But, still, it doesn't matter. As long as I survive, I'll do whatever it takes to achieve to save myself. I got distracted from the events that kept on occurring earlier, that I almost lost track that my survival comes first and foremost. Dying simply because of revenge is futile.

I have to secure my life before anything. Only then will I think about what to do afterwards. 'But, I'm not even sure what to do.' Should I get revenge against them? Or should I just let them be?

My decision doesn't have to be now. I can just decide next time. For now, my attention should be directed to the situation at hand. I glance at the man holding me and gulped down me uneasiness. 'This mister isn't going to let me go, right?'

The reason this person is still able to hold me, is because he used the fight with Rowan as well as the injuries on my body as an excuse. But now that it's settled, he might just put me down now.

"Viscount." The marquess took a step closer to us. His hands making a mess on the white marble floor with red blood. "As you can see, we value Anastacia as our own. Anyone who dares harm her will be punished accordingly."

'Punished? Then punish yourselves! Your family and everyone in this house should be punished then. And what are you saying? Value as our own? If not for this person holding me, I would've been in Rowan's seat instead.' The mocking tone to my thoughts would've been heard if not for the shaking feelings on my muscles.

"Your right." The guy behind me spoke with a sigh. He's- "Thank you for your cooperation, viscount." Immediately as the man placed me down, the marquess took hold of my hand, and urged me to his side.

"I apologize for the misunderstanding I had." What was that? In a flash the man had an eerie smile. 'Was it just my imagination? His voice... was also... cold?... in comparison when he was talking to me.' He raised his hand to shake with the marquess' reached out hand. "I heard it's your daughter's birthday soon. Knowing full well of your wealth, I'm expecting it'll be quite extravagant. It's in the thirteenth of February, no?"

"Haha." The marquess breathed a dry laugh. "And I hope his grace can make time for it this time." Huh? His grace? That title is for a duke, right? Who is he talking about?

"Attendance? I'll be sure to try and inform the duke."

'Inform the duke...? This guy must work for a duke then...' To think I went and grabbed onto him. If he really works for a dukedom, I'm lucky he didn't kill me at first sight.

He wouldn't- 'Huh?' My attention was caught when the man I presume to be a "Viscount" was glancing at me, and made a... smile? Just earlier, he seemed like a whole different person. Cold and distant to... warm and sweet?

"Miss." He opened his mouth to speak to me. I was bit skeptical to listen because of my current situation with the marquess. The moment I turned to look at the corner of my eye, the marquess wasn't in favor of having me listen to him. But I want to. If he really works for a duke, then he must have some great position. "I'm sure we'll end up meeting again soon."
